Il est rare qu’un groupe sorte un best-of après avoir fait seulement trois albums. Les cinq premiers morceaux de Divine Invitation sont extraits de leur premier album, Invitation, tandis que les cinq morceaux suivants viennent du second album, Divinity. Cela explique donc aisément le titre de ce best-of. Soulignons tout de même que ces deux albums sont devenus difficile à trouver et donc, que cette idée de sortir un best-of n’est pas si mauvaise, il aurait néanmoins fallu que le groupe attende un ou deux albums supplémentaires. Il devrait quand même satisfaire les fans qui ont découvert le groupe avec leur troisième album, The Fallen Empire, et qui désireraient connaître ce qui s’est passé auparavant, d’autant plus que le groupe a tenu à ce que ce best-of soit dans un prix très raisonnable.
Musicalement parlant, on ne constate pas une très grande évolution au fil des albums, cela se remarque de façon très claire avec ce best-of et c’est bien dommage. Le Metal que le groupe exerce est un Metal classique, Speed Mélodique sans ambition de se démarquer des autres groupes évoluant dans le même domaine musical. Au niveau de la qualité audio, par contre, il n’y a absolument rien à redire, le son est très propre, les instruments se distinguent de façon très claire.
Ainsi donc, ce best-of est bien produit, il donne un aperçu très clair de ce que le groupe fait comme musique mais on ne remarque aucune originalité particulière, nous pouvons néanmoins souligner que les parties de guitare sont de haut niveau.
Pour ce qui est des bonus, ALTARIA nous en sert sept mais l’on s’en serait bien passé puisqu’il s’agit de morceaux laissés sous leur forme de démo originale, ils n’ont pas pris la peine de les réenregistrer, ceci est assez regrettable. Par contre, l’on peut souligner l’effort du groupe d’innover un tant soit peu avec la présence de deux titres inédits, « Keeper Of Mystique » et « Ball And Chain », avec la présence de son nouveau chanteur, Marco Luponero, ainsi que d’un nouveau guitariste, Petri Aho, mais cela reste une bien maigre consolation.
Au final, ce best-of laissera les fans d’ALTARIA sur leur faim, il faut donc espérer la sortie très prochaine d’un nouvel album.
