Avec seulement deux albums à leur actif, les Nantais se sont forgé une jolie réputation. Leur Hard Rock traditionnel, râpeux et cru, fortement teinté de Rock sudiste, étant particulièrement efficace tant sur album qu’en live. C’est le genre de groupes dont on guète la prochaine sortie. Oui, mais celle-ci se fait attendre. Alors, pour patienter, les Sudistes de l’Ouest nous balancent un live qui ponctue deux ans de tournée. Belle occasion de confirmer que WILD WEST tient la route.
Live In The West est un concentré de Hard Rock bien foutu, alliant adroitement énergie et émotion. Il ne faut pas chercher l’originalité, ni une quelconque utilisation d’effets compliqués, vous l’avez compris, WILD WEST fait les choses “à l’ancienne”. Et c’est bon.
Sur chacun des dix titres les guitares ne cesseront de mettre le feu avec une efficacité dévastatrice. De son côté André Fuciarelli achève de tout ravager avec son chant aiguë et rocailleux qui convient parfaitement et qui passe avec succès l’épreuve du feu.
La playlist fait la part belle a l’excellent Second To None, avec un seul emprunt à One et une reprise d’Aretha Franklin, “Chain Of Fools” qui ponctue le tout.
Le mixage est moins concluant ; la basse est trop prépondérante et, surtout, le public trop absent. Par ailleurs on regrette que la pochette soit si peu pro avec une photo floue et un logo pixelisé. Vous l’aurez compris, il faut chipoter pour trouver des défauts à ce concentré de riffs.
