Pour ce deuxième album, PURE INC. continue de nous asséner de bons coups de Hard Rock old school, avec une puissance de feu qui a tendance à nous faire chanceler. Car les Suisses savent y faire : ils maîtrisent désormais parfaitement ce cocktail de vieux Hard Rock et de Heavy Rock aux forts accents sudistes, le tout remis au goût du jour. Le son est donc très actuel, avec notamment des guitares accordées assez bas.
Cet album nous propose une poignée de brûlots incisifs et rocailleux. Pas de grandes innovations en perspective, l’objectif n’est manifestement pas de créer un nouveau style mais de puiser dans le passé et de s’en servir de base pour l’écriture d’un album efficace. Sur ce point A New Day’s Dawn remplie sa mission sans faillir.
“I’ll Let You Know”, l’une des 2 ballades, est franchement marquante, elle a un potentiel évident. Elle nous permet de constater que les mélodies ont une part importante sur cet album malgré un aspect râpeux et assez cru.
Le contraste ballade/Heavy est frappant sur “The Thing You Left On Me” avec une montée en puissance assez intéressante.
Il serait injuste de ne pas évoquer le chant époustouflant de Gianni Pontillo, qui donne à PURE INC. son meilleur argument : une puissance maîtrisée avec un grain Rock prononcé. Cela permet au groupe de se démarquer des autres formations que l’on a pu écouter dans ce style.
La production est impeccable.
