Un mélange hétéroclite d’influences ne peut pas toujours être néfaste. Encore faut il arriver à trouver une osmose parfaite pour la restitution, ou bien choisir des sources d’inspiration liés par un thème ou un traitement commun.
Et lorsqu’on régurgite un repas à base de STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, EMPEROR, IMMORTAL, NASUM et SLIPKNOT, ça s’apparente légèrement à la restitution d‘un goûter à base de lasagnes et de vin rouge au cubis.
C’est pourtant ce qu’indique la bio de SIDEBLAST, et ça laisse songeur. Parce que c’est vrai. Bon, OK, je n’ai pas trouvé des masses de traces de la musique de Demonaz et Abbath, mais pour le reste, ça tape assez juste.
Bien sur, les deux influences majeures restent Devin et la bande à Corey, pour la folie, la puissance et la mélodie combinée au bruitisme le plus absolu, mais les arrangements de claviers ne sont pas sans rappeler Samoth et sa clique, et surtout In The Nightside Eclipse, quand aux blast-beats furieux, pas de doute, c’est du Mieszko tout craché.
On rajoute un zeste de CARNIVAL IN COAL pour l’esprit, et vous pouvez maintenant imaginer ce que tout ça peut donner. Car pour donner, ça donne, et ça joue juste. Les zicos ont beau être un minimum frappés, ils n’en ont pas pour autant oublier d’apprendre à jouer. C’est cataclysmique mais précis, et le son est digne d’un tsunami à l’échelle mondiale.
Les arrangements sont soignés, le chant caverneux au possible, et sans avoir à tendre l’oreille on distingue sans problème tous les instruments de manière limpide. Normal me direz vous, avec Tommy HANSEN au mastering, le contraire eut été dommage !
Et si vous pensez que les gus se prennent trop au sérieux, apprenez qu’ils doivent être fans de l’indispensable site Nanarland.com, car entre les pistes, on retrouve pêle-mêle des extraits de films de Chuck Norris (Portés Disparus III, Invasion USA…), de Steven Seagal (Terrain Miné), mais aussi des perles plus obscures comme Hitman Le Cobra (« Philippe, viens ici que j’te bute enculé », si si, c’est vrai…).
Si avec ça, vous n’êtes pas convaincus, je vous condamne à regarder en boucle Turkish Star Wars pendant 10 jours.
