Bon, on ne va pas se mentir, CALIBRE ZERO porte son nom plutôt bien que mal. Une forme d'excitation mêlée à de la curiosité un peu malsaine s'est nourrie de mon imagination quand j'ai découvert pour la première fois ce groupe madrilène, qui a cette immense particularité (et mérite) de chanter dans sa langue natale. De mémoire, ça ne m'était encore jamais arrivé et quelque part entre paëlla et pilosité, il y avait ce cliché qui veut que l'espagnol ne soit pas une langue qui sied particulièrement aux sonorités métalliques. Le quatuor avait donc la drôle de responsabilité de contrarier les esprits obtus, et c'est avec son second album, Inmune, plus encore qu'avec le premier (Jugando Con Fueco), que les frères Làzaro (probablement jumeaux) et leurs deux acolytes vont un peu flinguer leurs espoirs de célébrité.
Dépeint comme un croisement moderne de MOTÖRHEAD, BLACK SABBATH et METALLICA au goût piquant de chorizo, CALIBRE ZERO ne véhicule absolument pas l'ambition de cette union. Il s'agit en réalité d'un groupe de Rock / Metal muy classico combinant à tâtons riffs Heavy, power chords, flegme Southern et farniente (de l'italien fare niente, ne rien faire). Le soleil parfois caniculaire qui frappe l'été la péninsule ibérique semble avoir eu raison de la fraicheur de ces garçons, qui font vraiment preuve d'une commodité affolante. Inmune avance sans vraiment savoir où aller, avec son petit baluchon sur l'épaule droite et son poste radio crachant du vieux Lemmy sur l'épaule gauche. La foudre frappe l'Angleterre, mais leur rêve est américain. Avec ses relents texans, une composition comme "Nadie Me Dirà (Lo Que Tengo Que Hacer)" marche dans le désert, hirsute, crasseuse, off-the-grid. Il y a une liberté, un besoin d'évasion, de rejet qui se dégage de ce second opus. CALIBRE ZERO évolue dans sa bulle, rendant au Rock son côté immortel. Mais ces Espagnols, ne sont pas seuls. Croire en Inmune, c'est comme regarder "Into The Wild" et nier la présence des caméras, de l'équipe technique, du réalisateur. Il y a toute une démarche artistique derrière qui finalement ne relève pas du bon sens mais de l'approximation. On ne s'ennuie pas vraiment, mais on ne prend pas un réel plaisir non plus. Puis, il faut bien le reconnaître, ce chant en espagnol est vraiment gênant. Ricardo Làzaro joue dessus à fond, et c'est tout à son honneur, mais si vous avez du mal avec les "R" qui roulent quand ils ne sont pas issus de la bouche de Till Lindemann, alors vous ne trouverez aucun avantage à ce chanteur, qui ne dispose pas en plus d'un timbre particulièrement avantageux. C'est rigolo sur "Yo Digo Bien", ça passe encore sur "Mentiras" mais au-delà, ça devient pénalisant car franchement disgracieux.
Inmune, malgré quelques paramètres qui peuvent le distinguer, n'est qu'un album moyen de Metal pondu par un boys-band latino, ce qu'on n'imaginait pas vraiment arriver en découvrant CALIBRE ZERO, qui avait autant de chances que d'autres de faire son trou. Apôtre de l'à-peu-près, du correct sans être mauvais ni bon, ce quatuor fait néanmoins honneur à ses racines. Par pur patriotisme ou par lubie de faire un #buzz, il y aura toujours une petite part d'ombre amusante pour donner du relief à une sortie bien lisse.
