OLC SINNSIR (FRA) - The Throne Of Dead Emotions (2003)

Quoi de mieux pour se réchauffer en cette nouvelle version de l’ère glaciaire qu’un bon vieux groupe de Black Metal totalement underground français ? La réponse est furtive : tout. Si les températures extérieures sont depuis belle lurette descendues sous le seuil zéro, le climat qui règne sur le seul album d’OLC SINNSIR ne donne pas beaucoup plus chaud au cœur. D’ailleurs, qui se souvient qu’en 2003, ce combo français a eu le privilège d’exprimer son mal-être et son dégout de tous ces trucs répugnants qu’il fait bon détester (l’Homme, l’humanité, le monde, la religion, bla bla bla…) sur CD ? Personne et pour cause, OLC SINNSIR n’est pas la formation la plus sexy de la planète. Elle a beau être née il y’a onze ans déjà, l’unique full-lenght de sa discographie n’a marqué, il faut bien l’avouer, absolument personne. La faute peut-être à un ressassage permanent de tous ces bons vieux clichés qui en ont envoyé plus d’un six pieds sous terre jadis.
Nul doute que c’est le premier défaut de cet opus que d’être trop prévisible. Voyez donc la pochette. Vous arrivez à lire quelque chose dans ce logo ? C’est donc du Black Metal. Vous distinguez clairement le pentacle en fond ? C’est donc du Black Metal. Vous trouvez que le nom du disque fait froid dans le dos ? C’est donc du Black Metal. D’emblée, OLC SINNSIR s’impose comme un vieux groupe qui va véhiculer un satanisme bon marché directement inspiré des nombreux cerveaux qui peuplaient la Scandinavie, du temps où c’était très à la mode d’incendier des lieux de culte. Et pourtant, The Throne Of Dead Emotions est surprenant à bien des égards. Premièrement, la production n’est pas la plus affreuse qu’il m’est été donné d’entendre. Ne vous attendez pas non plus à de la limpidité, n’oubliez pas que ça doit rester malsain dans l’esprit. Ensuite, il m’a été fort agréable de pouvoir distinguer clairement les variations aux grattes. Nos lascars jouent vite, pas très juste mais très fort. En tout cas, ils frappent là où ça fait mal et invoquent par le biais de ces odes les plus grands protagonistes de la scène Black Metal nordique. Et de surcroît, ils sont bilingues ! Un vrai plaisir d’entendre Andralath Svartsinn jurer des insanités (« je rêve de tremper mes mains dans les entrailles de celui qui insuffla la vie ») en bon français. D’autant plus que je trouve que ce vocaliste a beaucoup de charisme et de puissance dans sa voix. Le niveau n’est pas très haut, mais colle bien à leurs propositions. Ce Black Metal là est pur, il est totalement impossible de faire une analyse de ce disque « piste par piste » puisqu’elles suivent toutes le même schéma. Mais un schéma qui fais mouche, avec suffisamment d’inspiration pour éviter toute forme de redondance, comme sur l’excellente « Under The Throne Of Dead Emotions » qui, bien qu’un peu longue, est dotée d’un superbe passage en break et d’un jeu de cordes harmonique.
OLC SINNSIR avait beaucoup de haine à revendre. Si c’est le fait de l’avoir entièrement exprimée sur The Throne Of Dead Emotions qui rend cette rondelle bonne, je veux bien être haï à mon tour. Mais comme souvent, trop de haine tue la haine. Après cet essai, OLC SINNSIR est mort dans l’anonymat général. Par conséquent, cette review est un ex-voto.
