Aucune info sur VEHEMENTER NOS !!! On sait juste que ce groupe est un obscur duo français qui vient d’accoucher de son premier album éponyme, résultat de 6 ans de dur, long et douloureux processus de compositions. Avant de décrocher sa signature chez Osmose, le groupe s’est fait les armes en sortant quelques démos et peaufiner son style avec des influences venant de la musique classique et du rock progressif.
A l’écoute de ce premier opus, deux influences majeures me viennent à l’esprit : EMPEROR pour les passages plus orchestraux et les ambiances créées par des instruments comme la guitare sèche, la flûte ou le violon à l’aide de musiciens de sessions. La seconde est SHINING pour les passages mélancoliques et dépressifs de ce Black Metal progressif (la fin de « Seuls » en est un parfait exemple).
Après une longue introduction (de plus de 4 minutes), les choses sérieuses commencent pour VEHEMENTER NOS et on peut dire que le morceau « Les Dévastés » est très réussi : alternant gros riffs True Black et passage totalement Dark (l’interlude au violon…) l’album débute parfaitement. Ce titre de plus de 11 minutes démontre à lui seul le potentiel et la créativité du duo. Grâce à un chant maîtrisé, des arrangements sophistiqués et une qualité d’écriture certaine Vehementer Nos est sur le bon chemin pour devenir un skeud important au sein du Metal extrême Français.
Bien que ce premier album ne compte que 4 titres (et une intro), il ne dure pas moins de 40 minutes. Les titres sont longs, pourvus de bonnes idées, avec des passages brutaux entrecoupés de moments planants… on a donc des morceaux variés proches de compositions pagan, épiques et sauvages que n’aurait certainement pas renié DRUDKH. Un esprit de malaise et de mélancolie plane sur Vehementer Nos qui finit avec le titre « Dans le Flot » et qui plonge l’album dans une profondeur indescriptible… quelques minutes de plus et on ne sait pas quel malheur aurait pu se passer…
La production est un peu légère et le son trop soft à mon goût, mais permet de mettre en évidence la qualité de composition et la richesse de la musique de VEHEMENTER NOS. Les deux français utilisent avec brio tous les instruments dont ils ont besoin pour donner une véritable émotion à chacune de ses compositions.
