Après deux tournées à succès, on était en droit de penser que tout allait bien pour KISS. C’était sans compter les éternels conflits d’égos et d’argent qui vont pousser Ace Frehley à quitter une nouvelle fois le groupe. Il est remplacé par Tommy Thayer qui lui piquera son costume et son maquillage. Pas de scrupule !
Mais cet incident fini par n’être qu’anecdotique tant cet enregistrement live est de qualité. On retrouve ce que le groupe a fait de meilleur en 30 ans ! Tous les classiques, tous les hymnes son à nouveau joués. C’est surtout la partie symphonique qui vaut le détour car, même si les grands airs du groupe sont toujours à la hauteur, leur interprétation avec un orchestre symphonique leur donne une portée supplémentaire.
Cet album est donc indispensable et pourtant je recommande chaudement de ne pas l’acheter ! Pourquoi ? Parce qu’il est nettement préférable d’avoir la version DVD (chroniquée sur ce site) qui permet de voir un vrai show de KISS ! Et, croyez-moi, ça vaut le détour.
