KRASS-T (FRA) - Le Jour Du Saigneur (2009)

Certains patronymes ne font pas rêver : KRASS-T est de ceux-là. Il en va de même de la pochette : au moins, celle-ci a le mérite de ne pas avoir abusé des logiciels avec un retour aux bons vieux travaux manuels. Malgré une intro instrumentale aux rythmes tribaux, KRASS-T ne fait pas dans le Metal ethnique, à savoir : même s’ils viennent du Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Le jour du saigneur n’est pas un Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis version Death Hardcore, et c’est tant mieux. Démo oblige, la production est assez crue, mais elle colle bien à l’état d’esprit Punk du groupe. Les guitares font dans le basique – le t de KRASS-T ne vaut pas pour technique – et lorsqu’un solo pointe le bout de son nez (« Criminel légal »), il est rapidement tué dans l’œuf. Ce sont bien plutôt la batterie et la basse qui s’offrent la part du lion ici, et notamment la basse, on ne peut plus présente sur l’ensemble des compos. Un vrai régal pour les oreilles, car Stooph et Niko maîtrisent leurs instruments. Parmi les influences, PANTERA et NAPALM DEATH figurent en tête de liste. Si les thématiques explorées ici ne sont pas des plus festives – guerre, SIDA, exploitation capitaliste (à noter que, même si le style pratiqué n’a jamais été connu pour son soin porté à l’articulation des paroles, le combo alterne textes en français et en anglais) – le rendu reste particulièrement entraînant et donne envie de danser la gigue, dans un esprit un peu bourrin plutôt que violent. Les structures ne sont pas linéaires et renforcent le sentiment d’ivresse qui se dégage après plusieurs pintes ingurgitées. Le tout n’est pas encore suffisamment canalisé, mais le plaisir que prend la formation à jouer est communicatif. Et c’est bien là le principal.
