Mélodique, triste et glacial sont les trois principaux mots qui ressortent de ce troisième opus des français de Mystic Forest. "Waltz In The Midst Of Trees" est sans nuls doutes leur album le plus abouti et le plus riche.
Mystic Forest joue toujours la carte du contraste entre violence et mélodie et y parvient de mieux en mieux. Les solos guitares sont toujours présents et ce dans tous les morceaux mais finalement ils collent parfaitement à l'ensemble. Toujours proche des mélodies de musiques classiques, Stefan Kozak (le mentor de Mystic Forest) puise et incorpore subtilement des éléments d'oeuvres de Schubert, Tchaïkovski, Beethoven, Chopin etc... Perpétuellement à la recherche de nouvelles mélodies, cette fois ci, Stefan a puisé quelques mélodies à travers l'accordéon !
En matière de production, Stefan abandonne le son roots au profit d'un son plus travaillé de façon à gagner en intensité et pour mieux faire ressortir la complexité des morceaux.
Les textes en majorité écrit en français ne sont pas dénués de sens et sont sous forme poétique, on aime ou pas. Les voix sont comme les instruments, alternance entre voix torturées typiquement Black et voix féminines chaudes et enivrantes.
Album qui m'a fait presque renouer avec le Black Metal, style dont j'ai toujours eu du mal à accrocher. Mystic Forest à découvrir ou plutôt à redécouvrir avec un son plus travaillé pour un résultat convaincant.
