L’écurie Ibex Moon Records est dirigée par John Mc Entee du groupe INCANTATION. Ce monsieur a signé récemment un combo venant du Chili nommé THORNAFIRE. Initialement enregistré en fin d’année 2005, Exacerbated Gnostic Manifestation voit le jour via ce label en avril 2007.
Avec ce premier album, on découvre en THORNAFIRE un groupe de Death Metal très fortement influencé par MORBID ANGEL, IMMOLATION et INCANTATION (tiens donc…). Pour clore les présentations, ce groupe a au sein de son line up Juan Pablo Donoso à la batterie, plus connu pour avoir joué dans SADISM.
Le Death Metal des chiliens n’est pas original du tout, le groupe abuse de tous les clichés ou stéréotypes du genre. Il ne faut pas s’attendre au renouveau du Death avec THORNAFIRE. Exacerbated Gnostic Manifestation est balancé en mode classique, où les morceaux se suivent et se ressemblent. Ok le son est correct, la technique des musiciens n’est pas à prouver, les titres sont globalement efficaces, mais le tout est trop sous influence du Death US. Exacerbated Gnostic Manifestation peut être considéré comme un album moyen de IMMOLATION ou d’INCANTATION. Les thèmes utilisés sont standards, où l’inspiration n’est pas souvent au rendez-vous.
Les morceaux gonflés par des riffs de plomb (« Offering And Desecration Of Mosheh »), assommés par une rythmique lourde, ont quelques sonorités qui peuvent par moments être assimilé à du Black comme sur le titre « Deification Of The Four Fallacies ». Les breaks au sein des morceaux tombent souvent comme des cheveux au milieu de la soupe… tiens le titre « Clergy’s Betray » sonne comme de la soupe…
Utilisant exclusivement de vieilles recettes, ce Exacerbated Gnostic Manifestation est une véritable déception.
