Bonne nouvelle de l’autre côté des Alpes : on a retrouvé la machine à riffs ! Le Hard Rock nerveux de SHAKRA s’était fortement émoussé sur l’album précédent ; à tel point que l’on pouvait se demander si le groupe n’avait pas déjà tout donné et si le déclin n’était pas inévitable. Heureusement ce nouvel opus remet les pendules à l’heure (normal, pour des Suisses) : on retrouve toutes les qualités qui ont fait la marque de fabrique de SHAKRA : riffs nerveux et refrains renversants. Le tout étant totalement dépouillé de tout effet ; pas de synthé, pas de violon, pas de gonzesse, pas d’artifice, c’est du cru, directement sorti de l’ampli.
Du coup on enchaîne les morceaux vitaminés et l’on ne cesse de taper du pied. Peu de baisse de régime, les Suisses ont la pêche et du coup nous aussi.
Le principe est simple : des guitares tranchantes balancent des riffs à outrance, rehaussés par une rythmique percutante, là dessus un chanteur à la voix éraillée envoie des mélodies qui prennent toute leur ampleur sur le refrain. Le tout venant gentiment se tatouer à l’intérieur de votre cerveau pour le reste de la journée.
On est donc loin du pâlichon Fall qui venait ternir l’image du groupe. Pourtant on n’est pas encore au niveau des petits chefs d’œuvre que furent Rising, Power Ride et Moving Force qui recelaient pas moins de trois ou quatre bombes atomiques chacun. Mais bon, ne nous plaignons pas trop, SHAKRA est de retour.
