Explorant tous les aspects du Thrash, ARCANIA semble décidé à redonner un souffle nouveau à ce style. Il serait exagéré de prétendre que le groupe en a les moyens, par contre il est vrai que ce nouvel EP est de qualité.
Les jeunes membres ont fait les choses dans l'ordre, sans sauter d'étapes et, après les balbutiements, ils débarquent avec un produit fini très satisfaisant tant sur le fond que sur la forme. Il est même étonnant de constater combien un combo si jeune à tous points de vues (formé en 1999, ils n'ont pas 20 ans) parvient à livrer une musique si mature. Car il n'est pas question ici de reproduire toujours le même schéma : la formation est aussi à l'aise dans le Thrash old-school que dans le Death/Thrash, ou encore dans le Heavy. C'est d'ailleurs ce mélange d'influences qui constitue sans doute le principal atout de ARCANIA.
Le chant - en français sur les 3 premiers morceaux - ne gênera pas les réfractaires car il est savamment exécuté avec comme principal objectif la puissance. Là encore, c'est assez réussi dans l'ensemble. Par contre les longs cris aigus que l'on entend parfois sont moins convaincants.
Notons aussi une certaine aisance en solo qui n'est pas pour nous déplaire.
Cet EP ne sera pas la révolution que ARCANIA attend, elle présente encore trop d'imperfections, mais elle constitue certainement une nouvelle étape, déterminante, dans la jeune carrière d'un groupe qui, s'il continue de progresser ainsi, devrait faire parler de lui sous peu.
