Communic est un groupe norvégien fondé en 2003 et qui tente apparemment de faire du Heavy Metal Progressif. Je dis bien « tente » car Conspiracy in Mind fait l’effet d’une tentative avortée.
Chacun des sept titres fait en moyenne 8 minutes et je n’en ai pas entendu un pour racheter l’autre. C’est long, très long, beaucoup trop long. On ne distingue pas de structure claire aux morceaux. Pour du Prog, c’est d’un brouillon incroyable et pour du Heavy Metal, c’est terriblement mou ! Les parties instrumentales traînent en longueur ; les musiciens sont loin d’être des techniciens exceptionnels, ce qui ne vient même pas compenser le manque total d’émotion. Très mis en avant –au détriment du chant, notamment– le guitariste semble avoir toujours le même jeu. Inintéressante aussi est la voix, fade, manquant de puissance. Même appuyée par quelques backings vocaux, l’ensemble reste banal et dénué de charisme. La ballade inévitable, « The Distance », est répétitive et plate et sa montée en puissance elle-même manque d’impact.
Aucun riff, aucun refrain accrocheur. Conspiracy in Mind : une conspiration pour nous faire mourir d’ennui ?
