BARATHRUM (fi) - Anno Aspera 2003 Years After Bastard’s Birth (2005)

Grand changement de style chez BARATHRUM. Le Doom Metal qui avait déjà cédé la place à des titres plus rapides et agressifs sur l’album précédent, disparaît presque entièrement sur ce nouvel opus.
On retrouve une certaine lourdeur mais on sent que ce n’est plus la priorité du groupe qui favorise désormais un Black Metal plus traditionnel, plus énervé. Le chant de Demonos Sova est ici trafiqué à l’excès, enrichi d’une disto, d’une reverb et d’un chorus. On a désormais le sentiment qu’il s’adresse à nous du fin fond de l’enfer. Toutefois il est regrettable que l’aspect naturel et cru de BARATHRUM disparaisse ainsi. Car Demonos Sova savait comme personne incanter des paroles blasphématoire en simulant la possession avec des accents d’authenticité qui faisaient froid dans le dos. Cela disparaît donc au profit d’une musique plus riche, plus moderne.
En résumé les deux principaux atouts de ce groupe (le chant cru et la lourdeur) s’estompent fortement ; ils sont remplacés par une sophistication “evil” moins originale.
Avec cet Anno Espera, BARATHRUM rentre dans le moule des groupes de Black et perd un peu de son identité.
