LMP réédite cet album initialement sorti en 2001, par l’un des groupes leader de la scène progressive en Italie. Il s’agit de la première partie d’une histoire tirée du best-seller de Valerio Evangelsiti, “Cherudek”.
Le progressif dont il s’agit ici ne se complaît pas dans la complexité mais privilégie les atmosphères. Il s’agit très probablement de l’atout majeur de ce groupe. A ce propos, on saluera la personnalité du chanteur, Pino Tozzi, qui compte pour beaucoup dans la réussite des morceaux. Sa voix joue davantage sur les émotions que sur la puissance, elle donne à cet album une saveur résolument mélancolique. Les riffs et les emballements de batterie n’y feront rien, au contraire, les ajouts de claviers discrets renforcent subtilement cette impression de nostalgie. Tozzi porte le groupe, il en défini la ligne directrice, et l’on n’aura pas droit à un énième album de speed progressif ! Il en résulte une œuvre aboutie, totalement maîtrisée et mature.
Le groupe nous offre même de véritable perles : “Where’s My Heaven” et “Angel Of Death”ont des refrains entêtants et sont de véritables réussites. On peut aussi citer “Eyes Of Fire” dont 2 versions nous sont offertes. Mais cet album ne doit pas se résumer à quelques titres qui sortent du lot, il s’agit d’une réussite générale, que l’on écoute de bout en bout avec un égal plaisir et sans lassitude, à condition toutefois de ne pas être insensible au style du chant.
Une bien belle surprise.
