Désorganisée, désarticulée, déglinguée, déjantée. Déclic ? Des claques ? Que mérite vraiment la musique de TAYOBO ? Qu'on la taxe d'originale ? Il n'y aura guère que Steven Cohen pour la trouver terre-à-terre. Bienvenue, malgré vous, dans l'univers forain de ces Limougeauds qui, après avoir fait paraître en 2006 l'EP Djanbo Bang, se sont sentis prêts, sous l'impulsion de je-ne-sais quelle force extraterrestre, à sortir leur premier full-lenght. K-Barré Core voit le jour en 2009, et c'est peu dire qu'on en aura entendu parler. Rien que son nom, c'est tout un programme. Entre cabaret et Hardcore barré, il y a donc cet opus, fièrement proposé par cinq mecs totalement dé... complexés.
Et il fallait l'être pour oser. On appréciera immédiatement chez TAYOBO son sens du spectacle, son humour piquant, son Metal ébouriffant. "Bob Triquard", après une entrée en matière fanfaronne, retombe dans une espèce de Fusion ascétique et jazzy. Inattendu. A l'image des regrettés BAWDY FESTIVAL, TAYOBO nous promet un concept. Cabaret ou cirque, peu importe, une fois qu'on a payé l'entrée, on n'est pas sûr d'en réchapper. Et à l'inverse des regrettés BAWDY FESTIVAL, TAYOBO, en faisant n'importe quoi, se troue un peu. Festif et imprévisible, son Metal est un panachage de rythmes, d'influences, de délires, d'alternances qui s'emboîtent sans aucune construction distincte. On rigole bien 10 minutes à leurs côtés, mais franchement, ça devient vite lourd. De VIZA a SYSTEM OF A DOWN en passant par PSYKUP, THE SHANKLIN FREAK SHOW, chaque morceau est sujet à son lot de comparaisons, et voilà en quoi ces Limougeauds pêchent. On aurait adoré que K-Barré Core ait l'exclusivité du gros foutoir musical, sauf que pléthore de groupes ont déjà expérimentés pareilles aliénations avant eux. En mieux. Ceci étant, les riffs cartonnent ("K-Barré Core", "Carnaval Tragique", "Middle Crasse"), la basse est assez classe, vrombissante comme il se doit et les patterns de batterie variés. A maintes reprises, on a presque l'impression d'être face à une formation sérieuse, mais c'est sans compter sur Guillaume Anténor et Jonathan Prigent, deux vocalistes hyperactifs donc les 36.000 façons de chanter m'agacent. Parlées, criées, chuchotées électrisées, grognées, hurlées, leurs voix sont deux couteaux suisses qui se répandent en fantaisies, faisant le charme clownesque de cet opus. Hélas, on ne s'y coupera pas. Une complémentarité approximative, beaucoup de blabla pour pas grand-chose, du BLACK BOMB A avec un gros nez rouge, pensez ce que vous voulez de ce duo, pour ma part c'est tranché. D'autant plus nettement qu'en débitant parfois des paroles engagées sur le plan politique ("Sarkophages Show" par exemple), TAYOBO fait un curieux amalgame entre sujets sensibles et musique sans tabous. Non, décidément, je ne me fais pas à leur mixture indigeste, qui s'amuse de ses propres contradictions et de son métissage inabouti. Mais si ça peut en soulager certains, alors oui, que vive l'hystérie collective et que brûlent les esprits cartésiens !
En aucune façon je n'ai été convaincu par K-Barré Core, qui se distingue de la masse sans vraiment s'en distinguer. Marginal et burlesque, ce Metal / Hardcore enguirlandé de bric et de broc, de Funk et de Hip-Hop, de Ska et de Rock, dispose d'une répartie comique incontestable, ruinée par cet ersatz de partouze musicale qui en fait l'âme. Il parait que c'est en faisant n'importe quoi qu'on devient n'importe qui. Près de cinq ans après leur unique sortie, je n'ai pas l'impression que TAYOBO soit devenu quelqu'un. Et pourtant, ils ont fait n'importe quoi.
