Genre, tu commences, un samedi pluvieux, la journée qui s'annonce pas fameuse... Tu regardes l'heure sur le PC, 11:11. Ok, comme d'habitude. Tu pioches un truc au pif dans ta sélection, histoire de faire ton boulot, et la tu choisis un truc au hasard, tu le lances et tu te rends compte qu'il dure onze minutes pour onze titres.

Moi, je ne crois pas aux coïncidences. Si à cette heure précise j'ai choisi de chroniquer le Split de ces furieux anglais, ça doit avoir un sens. D'accord, à la base, je suis fan du style, vous le savez. A force d'écumer les bandcamp, les sites spécialisés, les blogs, vous aurez compris que l'underground me sied. Mais quand même. 11:11, AM, onze titres, onze minutes... J'aurais pu choisir de traiter le machin en onze lignes, mais malgré le boucan assourdissant produit par ces deux bandes un peu louches, il fallait bien en dire plus. Mais pas trop.
D'un côté, ENDLESS SWARM. Edinburgh, UK, Graham Caldwell, Ben Barrett, Alex Sharp, Alain Baron, Powerviolence/Grind/Noise, enfin vous voyez le tableau. Un EP au compteur, le rageur Lobotomy, des tonnes (?) de concerts, pour une musique qui flirte avec pas mal de courants. Son étouffé, climat un peu malsain, le genre d'extrême qui se nourrit de sèves différentes pour au final sonner comme un truc un peu bancal, ne se refusant aucun débordement. Ca va la plupart du temps assez vite, sur une croisière Crust qui tangue et vire, le chant est évidemment hystérique et suraigu, mais ça ne rechigne pas aux accalmies, qui se veulent bien pesantes, presque "grotesques" (dans le sens décalée et inquiétant du terme), et qui se barrent soudain en couille dans des accélérations qu'on a pas franchement vu venir. Powerviolence bien sur, Grind sans aucun doute, ça virevolte, ça prend la tête à deux mains pour la secouer, et ça ne vous relâche qu'après quelques minutes de headbanging forcé. J'adhère.
De l'autre, des tarés encore plus énervés. BRAINSHIT, duo constitué des énigmatiques al (guitare, chant) et jon (blasts, chant aussi) nous vient de Shithole, UK (ça a l'air pas mal à visiter ça, pour peu qu'on aime les conduits plein de déjections). A leur niveau, pas de question inutile, pas de geste biaisé, ça va très vite, ça fait beaucoup de tintamarre, mais c'est puissant, gratuit, et ça ramone les tuyaux. Grind pur malt, fort en houblon de contrebande, c'est l'adaptation des ténors anglais des 80's/90's version 2015, et ça fait un bien fou. On ne s'embarrasse pas de principe, et tout - ou presque - est dit dans la description du line-up. Une batterie qui fouette, deux maquereaux qui tempêtent, deux gosiers qui s'arrachent sur une arrête coincée, et des riffs francs et hyper rapides qui font le boulot sans broncher. Et puis hein, vous n'allez pas me faire chier, parce que cinq titres pour moins de quatre minutes, je vais pas vous pondre un roman non plus. Je vous dirai juste qu'ils bénéficient d'un très bon son, et ça ira bien comme ça.
Voilà, il est exactement 11:49 (oui mais entre temps, j'ai rangé un peu, passé l'aspi et mangé un flambi), j'ai fini mon boulot pour ce matin.
Alors on dit merci à l'Angleterre pour nous avoir envoyé un truc pareil, merci à la team Mind Ripper Collective de régulièrement étancher notre soif de boucan, et surtout pas merci à ENDLESS SWARM et BRAINSHIT, parce que de toute façon ils s'en cognent, et ils vont bientôt revenir nous les briser.
Mais avec tout ça, je n'ai toujours pas pigé le sens de cette coïncidence. Ou alors si. A samedi pluvieux, Grind heureux.
