La Pologne joue sur tous les tableaux : supers groupes et supergroups pas si supers que ça.
La première catégorie compte dans ses rangs quelques institutions. Citons en vrac : VADER, BEHEMOTH, DECAPITATED, HATE, TRAUMA. La seconde, mieux vaut ne pas trop en parler. Chacun sa croix, et Dieu sait qu'avec les KRUK, NONE, HEDFIRST et autres LOSTBONE, la Pologne est aussi lestée d'un poids métallique qu'elle trimballe à l'international et qui ne fait pas toujours ses affaires. Alors quand débarque de la capitale varsovienne HELLECTRICITY et son line-up de rêve, le coup de foudre guette, mais pas celui qu'on attend. Réunissant des membres de CARNAL, LOSTBONE, HEDFIRST et CORRUPTION, ce tout nouveau projet, qui ne pouvait rêver meilleur avocat que Metal Mind, va s'avérer beaucoup moins performant qu'espéré. Et pour cause, si les musiciens convoqués ne sont déjà pas gages de sécurité, que dire de ce Metal joué sur Salem Blood, qui ne trouvera jamais son identité ?
Avec ses mauvais airs de RAGE période "Straight To Hell" (quelle ressemblance dans le riff !) et ses bang bang qui font beaucoup trop "Feuer Frei !" de RAMMSTEIN, "Silver Bullets" tuera à la fois lycanthropes et patience. Pour un premier titre, l'efficacité et le côté "tubesque" du morceau font honneur à l'entité HELLECTRICITY, qui marque immédiatement les esprits mais pas forcément dans le bon sens. Idem pour "Endless Lie". Tout ce qu'on en retient, c'est ce "you gonna burn in hell" au début, qui réfère directement au titre phare de TWISTED SISTER. Le reste n'est qu'anecdote. Les Polonais interpellent, certes, mais uniquement par évocation d'entités parallèles. L'âme Stoner de GRANTIG sur "Don't Burn The Witch", le décalage stylistique façon NEURASTHENIA dans les vocaux de Rufus, qui pose un chant empestant le Bourbon sur des rythmiques galopantes Heavy / Thrash, HELLECTRICITY va jusqu'à troubler le repos des groupes les plus discrets qui ont marqué du sceau de la médiocrité nos expériences musicales personnelles. Chacun trouvera sa petite comparaison à faire, tout simplement parce que ce quatuor performe un Metal orienté Rock N' Roll, Heavy, Stoner et Thrash tout ce qu'il y a de plus banal. Sous une avalanche de solos, de refrains ciselés, de cadences trépignantes et hyperactives, Salem Blood est le confort, le groove et la simplicité. Ce n'est pas toujours un défaut, mais dans le cas présent, c'est surtout un album qu'on a déjà entendu ailleurs, un album qui manque de piquant, de twist, de temps forts. Paradoxal, quand l'idée de base du groupe était de pondre un full-lenght tournant autour de l'une des périodes les plus marquantes de l'Histoire : l'Inquisition. Ce premier disque est finalement tout le contraire et seul son feeling catchy en diable semble suffisamment convaincant pour le sauver de la suffocation promise.
Sur la pochette, la Bible est ouverte à la bonne page. EXODUS 22:18, "tu ne laisseras point vivre la sorcière". Encore une référence. Salem Blood en tire sa principale fragilité. Si de la bouche de ses musiciens, HELLECTRICITY "a pour unique objectif de jouer, sans penser à dépasser des limites de vitesse ou de puissance", alors on peut considérer que ce premier opus est une réussite. Mais une réussite interne, car honnêtement, vu de l'extérieur, sans vitesse ni puissance, Salem Blood est une sortie tristement quelconque.
