Quand on découvre que LIFELOVER est un groupe de DSBM, ça parait assez contradictoire. Et pourtant, les Suédois sont des pionniers du genre. Pulver (leur premier album) est un disque phare du style, et beaucoup de nouveaux artistes tels que PSYCHONAUT 4 se sont directement inspirés d'eux. Pour parler de l'EP en lui-même, Dekadens est l'avant-dernière production du groupe au moment ou j'écris ces lignes, et est aussi la plus connue car c'est un EP parfait, sans aucune erreur.
Il est important de préciser que les fans de LIFELOVER qui attendent une suite à Pulver ou bien à Konkurs se mettent le doigt dans l'œil jusqu'au cerveau et peuvent directement arrêter l'écoute, ou simplement ne pas l'entamer. Tout d'abord, cet album contient des changements notoires par rapport aux anciennes productions des Suédois. En effet, la boite à rythme disparaitra (oh Dieu merci, enfin !) pour laisser place à un vrai batteur, en chair et en os. Dis comme ça, ça n'a l'air de rien, mais la musique en a grandement profité. Ainsi, Kim alias "( )" a pu s'accorder d'une façon remarquable sur la batterie. La voix pulverienne, étranglée et hurlante, laissera place à une voix suffocante et plus aigue, une voix qui convient nettement mieux au tempo ainsi qu'aux accords aigus joués par le maître à penser du groupe, feu Jonas Berqvist. Chaque album de LIFELOVER est une nouvelle découverte du groupe, car à chaque fois, les influences changent. Plus Heavy, plus Rock, plus ambiant, plus dépressif... Pour Dekadens, ce sera le côté Heavy qui sera marqué, comme le démontrent très clairement les 3 premières musiques de l'EP, "Luguber Framtid", le très classique "Myspys", ainsi que le révoltant " Major Fuck Off". Tous sont teintés d'une tristesse accablante, mais malgré tout, l'EP lui-même, non, disons plutôt le groupe lui-même, dégage une énergie incroyable. C'est ce mélange de dépression et d'énergie qui donne ce rendu si étrange, déstabilisant au début, qu'est LIFELOVER. Malgré l'ajout d'une touche Heavy, LIFELOVER reste lui-même comme le démontre cette fois-ci les 3 dernières musiques, c'est-à-dire une musique très sombre, emplie de narcotiques ("Lethargy") et d'alcool, ainsi que de mutilation en tous genres. Les sujets évoqués ne changent en revanche pas : de la haine à la tristesse en passant par la drogue, les Suédois restent eux-mêmes. Les cris terrifiants et horriblement tristes de Kim sont toujours présents, comme le démontre parfaitement la dernière musique de l'album "Destination : Ingenstans", une musique aux tendances schizophrénique où nous retrouvons un "( )" hurlant à l'agonie.
La sortie d'un EP après trois albums d'une qualité incontestable a surpris beaucoup de fans qui restaient tout d'abord extrêmement sceptique à l'égard de Dekadens... Fatale erreur, car c'est un EP haut en tristesse et en influences Heavy que LIFELOVER nous propose. De la voix à la batterie, tout est parfait, LIFELOVER n'a pas perdu de son prestige, c'est ainsi qu'ils sortent (selon mes goûts) leur meilleure production. Et la dernière, car à Dekadens succèdera le très controversé Sjukdom.
