HAPPY DAYS (usa) - A World Of Pain (2007)

Quand on ne connait pas HAPPY DAYS, c'est souvent par Happiness Stops Here... qu'on le découvre, ou bien par Cause Of Death : Life. Heureusement, la première production HAPPY DAYS nommée "A World Of Pain" est souvent oubliée et délaissée, et grand bien vous fasse. Mais qu'est-ce que HAPPY DAYS ? HAPPY DAYS sert d'entrée au DSBM, c'est souvent le groupe que l'on découvre en premier, au même titre que SHINING et LIFELOVER, sauf que le duo américain fait partie de ces groupes répétitifs et lassants. Mais comme j'ai de sérieuses tendances masochistes, c'est maintenant que commence mon écoute de leur toute première démo, A World Of Pain.
Précisons qu'à l'époque (2007), les deux membres d'HAPPY DAYS avaient 16 et 17 ans. Le gros, GROS, problème de cet album, c'est la répétition des rythmes et des notes. Les cymbales sont tellement aigues et stridentes qu'elles me donnent rapidement mal à la tête. Mais la chose insupportable, c'est la voix. Dans les albums suivant, la voix de Morbid est agréable. Disons plutôt qu'elle est correctement mixée. Quand le chanteur se met à entamer son texte, la voix couvre la quasi-totalité de l'instru (même si pour le coup, ce n'est pas forcément pour me déplaire). Par ailleurs, son chant se situe entre les cris d'un homme et ceux d'un hibou... Il y aurait de nombreuses autres choses à dire, comme le fait que la distorsion est tellement élevée que nous n'entendons plus les accords, ni les autres instruments qui jouent. On pourrait aussi se demander pourquoi chantent-ils en norvégien, ou encore pourquoi est-ce qu'ils ont engagés un primate pour faire le mixage. Le genre DSBM est un genre censé exprimer des émotions (en l'occurrence des émotions sombres comme la tristesse ou bien la haine). Ici, les quelques émotions exprimées viennent des titres de musiques, et encore, c'est très confus.
Concluons. Cet album est clairement une honte au genre DSBM. Et je pèse mes mots. Rien n'est à sauver dans ce disque, que ce soit au niveau instrumental, au niveau des lyrics ou bien au niveau des sentiments. Mais bon, heureusement qu'HAPPY DAYS a su faire mieux dans ses autres productions, car comme on dit, il faut bien commencer par quelque chose.
