Realeyes n’est pas le bébé de jeunes loups. En effet, les Suisses de DARKRISE en sont à leur quatrième essai. Enregistré au prestigieux Hertz Studio, Realeyes est l’œuvre de quatre membres épaulés sur ce coup par Kevin Talley à la batterie évoluant dans un Brutal Death très élégant (du moins, c’est ce qu’il me semble…), varié et efficace.
L’intro met l’auditeur dans l’ambiance, et d’un seul coup, c’est l’énorme « I’m Here » qui nous tombe en plein sur la gueule. Et rien que sur ce titre, que c’est bon ! D’entrée de jeu, on est enchantés par ce son puissant et massif, mettant en valeur chaque piste de façon très intelligente et subtile. Et dire que ma pauvre maman est persuadée que le Death Metal, c’est que du bruit…
Assez proche d’un BENIGHTED dans l’esprit, DARKRISE sait se distinguer par une technique et un groove hors normes. Moi qui n’ai jamais été un grand amateur de ce genre de Grind / Death aux hurlements porcins, je suis obligé de reconnaître que tout est ici excellent. Il n’y a vraiment rien de mauvais dans ce qu’ils font, tout est très bon. Alors que le titre d’ouverture était une beigne façon rouleau compresseur certes efficace, mais vue et revue, la suite est très intéressante. « Etre Ou Ne Paraitre » sort du lot, déjà pour son énigmatique titre en français, et surtout pour ses interludes épiques et son ambiance flirtant presque avec le Doom. Mais le meilleur, c’est que ça marche ! On peut être surpris, voir carrément désappointé, lorsqu’on entend l’intro au buzuki sur « Foeticide », mais surtout, quand on voit la durée du titre : 7 minutes 30 ! Plus de 7 minutes de sauvagerie et de précision chirurgicale qui passent toutes seules, tant le travail fait sur la composition et la production est minutieux. Les relents orientaux et la structure alambiquée de ce titre en font sans aucun doute LA perle de l’album.
La violence reste prédominante dans la musique de DARKRISE (faut dire, c’est pas de la section rythmique pour rigolo qu’ils se trimballent !), mais sans être abrutissante comme celle d’un CANNIBAL CORPSE. Par exemple : écoutez la tuerie qu’est « No Help In Hell » et sa basse slapée. A coup sur, un morceau qui déchainera les passions en live. La violence, ok, c’est cool… En même temps, c’est du Brutal Death. Mais qu’est ce qu’il fait que cet album puisse autant susciter l’attention, et qu’il ne sera pas rangé aux côtés d’un disque lambda ? Eh bien, c’est ce riche apport en mélodie, essentiellement dans les solos, qui apporte une dimension presque épique à l’ensemble.
Inspiré, maitrisé, travaillé. C’est ce qu’est Realyes. Mais plus simplement, c’est un excellent album, et à titre plus personnel, un véritable coup de coeur ! En espérant voir DARKRISE défendre ce beau bébé sur les scènes françaises très rapidement, on se repasse ce disque monstrueux en boucle, on le dissèque pour en tirer toutes les qualités et les subtilités… Et on attend la suite! Une réussite.
