Oui Jason, tu as raison. Comme tu le dis si bien, les temps sont durs. Mais pas seulement pour le Slamming Death Metal. Alors cette chronique, c’est un coup de pouce. Pas seulement pour PUTRIFIED J, mais pour tous ces groupes de Brutal Death, de Beatdown, de Slamming / Mosh Death Metal qui en chient pour sortir la tête de la fosse à purin. Ton groupe, Jason, c’est un exemple à suivre. Parce que tu as compris que le Death, quand il est exécuté de cette manière, aussi dégueulasse soit-elle, c’est un partage. Tu n’as d’ailleurs pas hésité quand il fallait inviter les amis à poser quelques briques sur cette ultime récolte. Tu nous proposes avec ton collègue Wes qui tient la guitare 14 compositions pour 23 minutes de Death dégoulinant. C’est pas beaucoup tu sais. D’autant qu’en matière de Slamming Death, je suis un peu épicurien. J’aime me sentir repu après un festin. Et celui que tu me proposes, s’il est bien maigre en quantité, il est également saturé en graisses. Limite cancérigène. C’est ça qui est bon !
Dès l’introduction, on réalise que ta musique ira vite, mais pas plus vite qu’elle-même. C’est là toute l’ambigüité de ton art. Tu cherches à être le plus rapide ou le plus bruyant, mais il y en aura toujours d’autres pour faire mieux. Tu mets des samples à de nombreux endroits. Là encore, tu refuses de te soustraire à l’innovation. Et c’est cette authenticité qui plaira, je te le promets. Il y a sur « Suffer » la participation de CHORDOTOMY et sur « The Beast » celle de CADAVERIC LAKE. Tu pourras leur dire que vous formez une fine équipe, même si l’ultra-brutalité de votre son en gonflera plus d’un. Votre musique est exubérante les gars. Vous faites preuve d’un flegme assez ahurissant. C’est osé. J’aime ce genre d’attitude, détachée mais à la fois investie. A moins que ce ne soit de la facilité ? En tout cas, que ce soit sur « Contagium » ou « 616 », tu manies tes baguettes avec beaucoup de dextérité. Et que dire de vos slams insensés ? Combien de fois j’ai voulu m’arracher les cheveux devant tant de laxisme ? Pourtant, vous dégagez tous une lourdeur pachydermique et un magnétisme étonnant. C’est bruitiste, minimaliste, presque insupportable, mais on ne peut pas s’en défaire. Heureusement que le groove et les breaks qui garnissent votre rondelle enduisent la notre de vaseline. Sinon il y aurait des dégâts dans les muqueuses. Et je ne parle pas des vocaux porcins qui nous immergent dans une fabrique de bacon. Il parait que dans le cochon tout est bon. Même ses grognements ? A t’entendre, on dirait que oui. The Last Harvest est un album gras, immature et décomplexé. C’est l’esprit Slamming Death dans son plus simple appareil. Moins puéril que du Grind porno, plus authentique que WAKING THE CADAVER qu’on qualifie aussi de « Slamming Death », PUTRIFIED J touche à l’essentiel. Avec la participation de pas moins de six groupes différents, parmi lesquels AUTONOMY, PUNISHED EARTH, DIGGING YOUR TOMB et SPLATTERED ENTRAILS, on assiste à une photo de famille, tripaille et excréments à l’appui. Je pense que malgré de nombreuses lacunes artistiques et musicales dont tu te fous éperdument, tu seras heureux de savoir que certains de tes auditeurs apprécient également ce retour à un certain classicisme.
Alors au final, ces 23 minutes auront été suffisantes. Avec Wes et tous vos partenaires que tu remercieras chaleureusement, vous avez réussi à me filer une bonne colique, dans les règles de l’art. Votre opus n’a aucune prétention, si ce n’est de s’éclater en musique et ça, c’est un état d’esprit qui vous rapportera forcément beaucoup d’amis et de soutiens. Ne tombez jamais dans les pièges qui vous seront tendus, parce que pour le moment, vous me semblez être vrais et talentueux. Et ce serait bien que ça dure encore un peu. En attendant, je vous embrasse tous tendrement.
