Il parait que la prolifération d’idées est une aide précieuse à la productivité. On le vérifie encore aujourd’hui. Neuf petits mois après avoir fait paraître un second album axé autour du concept de l’autocratie religieuse, les Parisiens de LIVARKAHIL sont déjà sur le retour avec un EP digital qui sera articulé autour de la colère de Dieu. Visiblement, la notion de concept est inspirante pour ces messieurs qui trouvent dans les sujets qu’ils traitent l’énergie nécessaire au renouvellement musical. A la fois différent et concordant d’avec Signs Of Decay, Wrath Of God est également l’occasion rêvée pour le groupe d’introduire ses deux nouveaux atouts, Simurgh à la basse et Sonaer à la guitare, qui remplacent respectivement Neil et Kaiin. On pouvait légitimement craindre une forme d’effritement occasionnée par la proximité entre ces deux sorties. Loin de là. LIVARKAHIL, en nouveau porte-drapeau du Death moderne français, fait le travail proprement.
Cinq titres, cinq inédits, voilà qui est amplement suffisant comme piqure de rappel. Grâce à son Death décapant et robuste qui lui vaut quelques comparaisons flatteuses avec les grosses pointures d’Europe centrale (encore et toujours BEHEMOTH pour ne pas les citer), LIVARKAHIL réécrit ici un opus de qualité à tous les niveaux. On n’avait pas de souci à se faire concernant l’intensité, elle demeure omniprésente et mieux encore, omnipotente. L’idée de la colère de Dieu colle vraiment très bien à ces quelques compositions. Elle fait appel à l’imaginaire de chacun. De façon très biblique, on peut se représenter orages, tempêtes et déluges pour illustrer religieusement ce mur de son. On se heurte à une vague déferlante, construite de riffs pointus et de roulements de batterie fracassants. Il y avait une minuscule et infime pointe de « Core » sur quelques créations de Signs Of Decay, on la retrouve parfois ici, éparpillée notamment au cœur du côté martial de « Through Hatred And Devotion ». En voulant faire de son Death Metal quelque chose de très moderne et impactant, LIVARKAHIL tombe sans s’en rendre compte dans une forme de vice, qui l’oblige à quelques écarts de conduite par rapport au Death traditionnel. Surement plus sombre et plus malsain que leurs précédents efforts, Wrath Of God est un disque tout en relief, concentré autour d’une section rythmique impressionnante de dynamisme et d’un HK en très grande forme derrière son micro. La participation à cet effort de BST, INRVI et Mkm, trois figures importantes du Black Metal français (AOSOTH, ANTAEUS…) lui offre très certainement un petit aspect Blackened Death, ce qui n’est pas pour être déplaisant à l’écoute d’une chanson presque parfaite comme l’est « Devotion » avec ses chœurs lancinants et la présence d’Henrik d’AS YOU DROWN. On retrouve aussi au chant Julien de BENIGHTED sur « Deny Your God ». Pourtant, ces deux derniers participants n’amènent pas une dimension particulièrement brutale à l’ensemble, bien que les groupes dans lesquels ils exercent soient particulièrement virulents. Les invités de cet EP constituent simplement l’axe majeur d’une palette vocale agréablement diversifiée et articulée autour de HK en maitre de cérémonie. Et malgré des pistes s’étalant à 80% entre 5 et 8 minutes, chose assez inhabituelle pour eux, on n’a aucun mal à suivre le fil de l’histoire et à garder sa concentration.
Alors je ne sais pas vraiment si cette sortie était nécessaire, surtout si proche de la précédente. Mais une chose est sûre, si on pouvait craindre une indigestion de LIVARKAHIL, il n’en est rien. Consistant, ravageur et largement crédible, il confirme tout le bien qu’on peut légitimement penser de cette formation haute en couleurs. Et puis franchement, si cet EP est proposé gratuitement sur leur site officiel, pourquoi s’en priver ? A n’en pas douter, ce coup de tonnerre tonitruant provoquera à son tour, la colère de Dieu !
