Si vous n’avez jamais apprécié FREEDOM CALL passez votre chemin, cet album ne vous fera pas changer d’avis au contraire ! Car Chris Bay, désormais seul leader du vaisseau FREEDOM CALL, demeure à tout jamais un chevalier en croisade portant haut et fort l’étendard du Happy Metal et ce pour encore un bon moment !
Après un excellent Legend of the Shadowking où le groupe semblait s’orienter vers des sonorités un peu plus sombres basées sur un concept historique relatant une partie de la vie de Louis II de Bavière ; le gang fait un retour aux sources fracassant. Exit les sujets trop sérieux écoutez « Rockin Radio » et vous comprendrez immédiatement !!!!
Pourtant on pouvait être en proie à une multitude de doutes après le départ de Dan Zimmermann, batteur depuis le tout début, fondateur et principal compositeur du gang ! C’est vrai que la perte d’un membre aussi important, ça fait beaucoup. Certains y voyaient la fin de l’aventure au moins au niveau musical !
Que nenni, son départ n’a eu aucun effet, au contraire, il semblerait même que la nouvelle cuvée soit encore meilleure !!!
Ce qui renforce le vieil adage que personne n’est irremplaçable !!!
Chris semble être inspiré plus que jamais et ce sans la moindre faille du premier jusqu’au dernier morceau ! Il réussit même à nous tenir en haleine tout au long des 60 minutes de cette rondelle, une véritable prouesse !!!!
Attention rien de révolutionnaire mais des titres de grandes qualités facilement mémorisables dont certains flirtent avec l’hymne imparable « Rockstar, Rockin Radio ».
Chris Bay est de plus dans une forme vocale époustouflante malgré les années et nous délivre une performance de haute volée tout au long des 14 titres de cet opus, du grand art !
On sent tout le background du bonhomme qui a su tout au long d’interminables tournées améliorer sa technique vocale et faire en sorte d’être la voix indispensable de FREEDOM CALL, une véritable marque de fabrique !
Le groupe pratique le Happy Metal avec une dextérité incroyable et peu importe si au fil des morceaux on retrouve des bribes de mélodies issues d’autres galettes : Crystal Empire, Eternity ou Dimension ; le propos n’est pas là !
FREDOM CALL ne changera pas mais arrive tout de même à varier les plaisirs en nous proposant des morceaux épiques « Crimson Dawn », celtiques « Power & Glory » ou pur Hard Rock « Rockstar, Hero on video ». Ce disque est fait pour des soirées joyeuses où les hectolitres de bière viennent rafraîchir des gosiers desséchés !!!
C’est simple ; ça respire la joie de vivre, c’est sans aucune prétention mais ça reste de haut niveau.
Tout ceci est à prendre au second degré, pas de textes alambiqués visant à atteindre les méandres de votre cerveau torturé ; les paroles sont directes, limites ridicules mais ici totalement volontaires et c’est même devenu un gimmick du groupe, effet happy total ! On n’est pas là pour se poser des questions existentielles dixit Mr Bay, au contraire tout est fait pour qu’au sortir de l’écoute vous soyez dans une forme éblouissante !
Land Of The Crimson Dawn est un des meilleurs crus du gang ; un millésime à déguster sans modération ! Un album parfait pour démarrer la journée de bonne humeur vous garantissant une banane géante obligatoire !!!
A noter pour tous ceux qui en veulent plus, une édition limitée avec six classiques repris par des combos comme POWERWORLD, NEONFLY, SECRET SHERE, MANIMAL ou KISSIN’DYNAMITE !
Un hommage rendu au roi du Happy Metal (pas du papy Metal) que demander de plus : une nouvelle rondelle de cette qualité le plus rapidement possible !
