Puisqu’il faut toujours comparer les guitaristes à leurs aînés, Frédéric De Secco se rapproche assez de SATRIANI : un académisme propre et une évidente virtuosité. Les 10 titres de ce premier album sont une démonstration parlante des capacités techniques du français, mais sans sombrer dans l’outrance démonstrative. L’album est agréable à écouter même si, comme toujours, il est surtout destiné à un public de connaisseurs.
Hélas il y a quelques défauts sur cette première œuvre : d’abord, la production est cochonne, ce qui ne pardonne pas sur ce type d’album, et le faible volume oblige l’auditeur à tendre l’oreille. D’autre part la batterie est ici tenue par une boite à rythme qui, sur certains morceaux sonne très cheap et aurait mérité une programmation plus élaborée afin d’ajouter du relief.
Il s’agit là d’un manque évident de moyens financiers que l’on considérera donc avec la plus grande indulgence car le garçon a du talent.
Et puis, quelqu’un qui vénère Steve VAI ne peut pas être foncièrement mauvais, pas vrai ?
