PORN (FRA) - A Decade In Glitter And Danger (2010)

Groupe tendance de l’underground techno Metal, PORN a connu son heure de gloire il y a quelques années grâce à une tournée en Allemagne en support de ASP, tournée qui lui permit de voir son album distribué par Sony Music.
En sommeil depuis un bon bout de temps, mais pas mort pour autant, PORN revient avec un « nouvel » album qui n’est rien d’autre qu’une réédition de luxe de 5 titres de son premier album et de l’intégralité d’un EP. Soit la quasi-totalité de sa maigre discographie.
Je ne jugerai pas ici le procédé commercial qui consiste à coller l’étiquette « nouveauté » sur un produit juste remballé (bien que le coffret comporte des capotes, et un T-shirt, le principal reste quand même la musique !), bien que je trouve cette façon de faire assez maladroite surtout vis-à-vis des fans qui ne font pas toujours attention à ce qu’on leur vend.
Alors parlons de musique, car c’est le principal atout de PORN, et là, pas grand-chose de négatif à dire, car celle-ci est de bonne qualité.
Pour tous ceux qui auraient manqué les sorties précédentes de PORN, sachez qu’on a ici affaire à un hybride entre Metal et Techno, un peu comme si Marc Almond s’était acoquiné en duo avec SPINESHANK. Assez proche d’un groupe comme JESUS ON EXTASY, ou même d’un MARILYN MANSON light, Porn manie assez bien les arrangements pour enrober des compos simples dans un emballage séduisant.
Conscient qu’une chanson vaut bien des discours, le groupe propose une assez bonne reprise du « Call Me » de BLONDIE, plutôt personnelle, même si elle n’a pas la patine délicieusement sexuelle de la version originale. N’est pas Debbie HARRY qui veut !
Mais du côté des originaux, on trouve largement matière à étancher sa soif de beat (le premier qui sort une allusion graveleuse gagne une capote à la Marie Brizard), et des morceaux comme « Soft Machine/Porn Machine », très lascif, ou l’épileptique « Superfurry » qui sonne comme un titre de CROSSBREED remixé par Rhys Fulber sont de précieux atouts que le groupe met intelligemment en avant.
Toujours une idée sous la braguette pour sortir un morceau d’une routine évidente (le riff redondant de « Recycle », le rythme martial et sodomite de « The Fee », le son de batterie organique sur « Baby Smack », etc…), PORN ne manque pas de jus, et du coup, A Decade In Glitter And Danger s’écoute jusqu’à la dernière goutte, sans avoir besoin de mouchoir.
D’aucuns diraient qu’après l’orgasme, il est temps de s’arrêter pour faire un câlin tendre et que les remix en fin de CD n’étaient pas indispensables, mais je vous laisse seuls juges.
Alors en dépit d’une démarche bassement mercantile, ce produit mérite quand même un minimum d’attention, ne serait ce que pour honorer un groupe qui a choisi un créneau pas si facile que ça à occuper.
