One-man-project français, FEIGUR nous honore ici de sa deuxième production, après I, Pestilence paru il y a deux ans, que je n’ai malheureusement pas eu la chance d’écouter, ce qui ne m’autorisera donc aucune comparaison avec ce II, Desolation ici présent, qui sortira cet été.
Le concept du projet entièrement personnel a toujours été aussi casse gueule qu’enrichissant. On ne peut compter que sur soi même, et ainsi ne pas perdre de temps en argumentations stériles avec d’autres musiciens pour essayer d’expliquer sa vision, mais par la même, il vaut mieux être sur de soi et de ses capacités, au risque de s’attirer les moqueries les plus basses de ceux qui ne tentent jamais rien.
Je n’ai aucune empathie particulière pour le sieur Von Feigur, que je n’ai pas l’honneur de connaître, mais j’ai toujours eu du respect pour les artistes qui se lancent à corps perdu dans leurs envies, sans attendre que tout leur tombe pré mâché dans la bouche.
J’ai toujours été fan de Dark Ambient, de Black sombre et oppressant, en gros de toutes les musiques tentant de matérialiser les sentiments les plus désespérés en musique. J’aime les longs développements instrumentaux qui laissent une ambiance s’installer pour mieux projeter l’auditeur dans un univers personnel, auquel lui-même pourra s’identifier par procuration.
C’est le cas ici. Car en plus d’instaurer un climat qui lui est propre, FEIGUR à l’intelligence de ne pas le faire durer trop longtemps, évitant ainsi la redite et les longueurs généralement inhérentes à ce type de morceaux.
Ses invocations, tout à tout plaintives, menaçantes, graves, effrayantes, avec l’apport sur un titre (« Die Herrschaft-Des Eises-Leichenschmaus ») d’une voix féminine parlée, captivent l’oreille et nous immergent dans un sombre cauchemar dont les contours sont clairement définis.
Alors bien sur, tout n’est pas parfait, et les deux premiers morceaux n’auraient pu en constituer qu’un seul tant ils sont similaires, mais je ne peux m’empêcher de trouver une certaine beauté vénéneuse dans l’arythmique « Naissance », et sa ligne de guitare sur laquelle se superposent de ténébreux arrangements.
Le titre éponyme est aussi à ranger du côté des franches réussites, avec son texte sans espoir murmuré qui peine à trouver écho au-delà d’une mer de soupirs. Et puis soudain le chaos de la batterie vient troubler le ressac, et les cris de douleurs percent nos tympans endoloris par le froid de l’âme.
Pas d’iconographie choc, un livret sobre et élégant. Des textes qui méritent l’attention. Une musique introspective de qualité.
Une œuvre à découvrir donc.
Dans tous les sens du terme.
