Encore une réédition de qualité de la part du label Polonais Metal Mind. Un peu dans l’esprit des sorties Axe Killer d’il y a quelques années, avec des coffrets et des digipacks offrant une seconde jeunesse à des œuvres épuisées ou n’ayant connu qu’une sortie confidentielle.
Cette fois ci, c’est le groupe culte Norvégien CARPATHIAN FOREST qui voit son fameux live de 2004 à Krakow relifté, et il est sur que cette sortie limitée à 1000 exemplaires va ravir les puristes.
Son à décorner les bœufs (et c’est suffisamment rare dans le petit monde du Black Metal pour être souligné !), packaging luxueux, voici donc un Cd que tout fan digne de ce nom se doit de posséder.
Quant à juger des qualités intrinsèques de la musique présente sur cet album, c’est une autre paire de manche.
J’avoue, je ne suis pas un die-hard de CARPATHIAN, je ne suis donc peut être pas à même de saisir la quintessence même de leurs aspirations.
Je me contenterais de dire que nous sommes là face à un Black de bonne facture, dans la grande tradition nordique, avec influences DARKTHRONE, MAYHEM, CELTIC FROST de rigueur. Un peu dans la veine de certaines réalisations de BATHORY époque épique (et colégram…ne suis-je pas cocasse ?), et une alternance plutôt bienvenue d’ambiances poisseuses et d’accélérations fulgurantes, le Metal sombre des Norvégiens se contente de prêter allégeance aux ténors du style, et il m’est difficile de leur attribuer une identité propre.
De plus, la durée de l’album, si elle va ravir les plus férus d’entre vous, risque de rebuter l’auditeur lambda qui se verra rassasié assez vite.
Alors nous pourrions rentrer dans des débats stériles sur l’authenticité de l’image du combo, son aura maléfique, et autres considérations futiles, mais nous ne sommes pas là pour ça. Et même si le mot « Satan » est prononcé à peu près toutes les 25 secondes, cela n’accorde pas à ce Live Perversions le droit à une indulgence particulière.
De plus, la faiblesse des réactions du public, soit particulièrement neurasthénique ce soir là, ou tout simplement noyé au mixage, ne confère pas à ce disque en public l’atmosphère dont il aurait besoin.
Le fait est qu’une dizaine de titres auraient suffit, mais si vous souhaitez survoler la carrière de CARPATHIAN FOREST sans vous prendre la tête à chercher tous les maxis, alors We’re Going To Hollywood For This fera amplement l’affaire.
