ODITEOHR (FRA) - Beautiful Theatrical Supremacy (2009)

Allez rien de mieux qu’une petite démo pour finir la journée… Jeune groupe français originaire de Paris et St Malo (je ne connais pas la moyenne d’age mais elle ne doit pas être très élevée), ODITEOHR pratique ce que l’on pourrait décrire comme du Black symphonique sans trop tomber à côté de la plaque.
A la croisée des chemins entre DIMMU BORGIR et THE CNK, le combo ne manque pas de fraîcheur et d’ambition, et il faut souligner à ce titre un packaging très soigné et une production plus qu’honnête.
Les titres oscillent constamment entre l’ultra violence, accentuée par l’emploi d’une double grosse caisse très rapide et d’un chant hurlé, et le plus nuancé, souligné par l’utilisation massive de claviers aux arrangements pas toujours heureux.
Le style pratiqué est pourtant très intéressant, et mérite d’être développé et débarrassé de ses influences trop flagrantes parfois. Car sous la couche Black très prononcée, ODITEOHR sait quand il le faut créer des ambiances très malsaines qui taquinent agréablement les oreilles, et qui les rapprocheraient même d’un ELEND lors des passages les plus sombres.
Ecoutez simplement pour juger le très bon morceau « Redemption Of Angel » qui clôt cette démo, avec ses sept minutes épiques et captivantes.
Si l’on analyse donc froidement et objectivement Beautiful Theatrical Supremacy, on sent que le groupe est capable de produire une musique vraiment digne d’intérêt. Il suffirait juste de se démarquer un peu plus encore des références incontournables, et surtout d’améliorer les parties de synthés qui ont tendance à faire tomber la démo dans l’amateurisme, à tort.
A porter au crédit du gang, un don dans la recherche d’ambiances glauques mais travaillées et jamais gratuites, et un vocaliste au timbre envoûtant, qui hurle ses textes en français comme à l’aube de son dernier jour.
