Il était temps ! Depuis le temps que cet album est annoncé, repoussé, réannoncé… bref, j’en passe et des meilleurs, le voici enfin, le successeur de l’énorme Loco Con Da Frenchy Talkin'. Plus que fan du groupe, c’est fébrile que j’allais découvrir ce Bad Porn Movie Trax auquel on ne croyait presque plus. Le groupe avait déjà proposé en téléchargement les titres d’ouverture, « Twisted Mind » et « Hombre Que Soy », donc pas de surprises de ce côté-là, même si c’est bon de le faire péter sur la sono du salon « Twisted Mind » est un morceau d’ouverture comme il faut : il met tout de suite dans le bain. Et puis il fait une parfaite jonction entre Loco Con Da Frenchy Talkin' et Bad Porn Movie Trax. Attention, SHAKA PONK reste du SHAKA PONK, faut quand même pas déconner, mais on notera quand même quelques évolutions, des petites touches différentes, histoire de ne pas se répéter éternellement. Et « Twisted Mind » illustre parfaitement cette transition. « Hombre Que Soy » aurait pu aisément faire partie du premier album. D’ailleurs, un retrouve un riff de guitare dont le style est très emprunté à ce à quoi le groupe nous avait habitué (et qui sera d’ailleurs une nouvelle fois exploité sur « Sum’ Luv’ »). « Prima Scene » et sa petite rythmique au synthé tout droit sortie d’une époque Bontempi révolue surprendra, mais la guitare très Rock qui suit remettra les choses en ordre. « How We Kill Stars » est le premier titre choisi par le groupe pour la promotion de ce deuxième opus. C’est un bon choix puisqu’il démontre le côté Electro, mais aussi Rock, que veut afficher SHAKA PONK. Il contentera les fans de la première heure et ralliera certainement les nouveaux adeptes. C’est dansant et remuant à la fois et on peut s’en délecter en clip sur leur site. « Mad O You » est beaucoup plus calme comme morceau, lancinant. Frah nous propose une nouvelle fois une ligne de chant variée et hypnotique. « Te Gusta Me » m’avait surpris lorsque je l’avais découvert en concert : ça blaste comme dans un bon gros vieux Punk des bois. Le break surprendra plus d’une personne, mais c’est bon et permet de reprendre un peu son souffle quand on est dans la fosse. « Sum’ Luv’ », dont je parlais plus haut, est le morceau le plus long de l’album. Il commence avec des sonorités très Electro Pop que l’on pourrait retrouver du côté d’un MIKA. Mais, contrairement à ce dernier, SHAKA PONK utilise à merveille ce décalage pour nous permettre de plonger dans ce morceau, sans lasser, et nous amener vers cette longue évolution du milieu. « Alak Okan » (rappelez-vous que c’est Goz, un singe, qui écrit les paroles comme il l’entend), tend vers le Reggae et parle de certaines substances que les Rock Star affectionnent. « Make It Mine » est un trip tribal bien senti qui pourrait très bien le faire en concert en guise de morceau d’adieu pour que la foule reprenne le refrain en chœur avec le groupe. Très sympa. Je ne passerai pas tous les titres en revue, même si c’est presque fait, mais ils sont tous bons et possèdent tous de grandes qualités, à des niveaux différents.
C’est certain, ce Bad Porn Movie Trax ne mettra pas tout le monde d’accord. Pour ma part, c’est un digne successeur à Loco Con Da Frenchy Talkin', et ce n’est pas peu dire puisque c’est un des disques que j’écoute le plus depuis sa sortie. SHAKA PONK continue son chemin sur son mélange musical et, je l’espère, pour longtemps. En attendant de les revoir en concert, je ne peux que leur souhaiter une très longue et prolifique vie !
