SITH est un nouveau groupe français, projet de Stéphane Verdura, alias Sith. Il s’est entouré de deux personnes pour compléter son line up de musique très électronique. Personnellement, j’aurai qualifié leur production d’Industrielle, mais j’ai préféré laisser l’appellation de Goth Core, juste pour faire plaisir et parce que les deux termes sont quand même justifiables à l’écoute de ce [Leiden]. Donc, de l’Indus mais à très forte connotation électronique tout de même. Les machines sont la base de ce disque et la guitare n’est là que pour soutenir le tout et apporter une certaine puissance. Cela en dérangera certains, peut-être, mais le trip électro qui est proposé ne manque pas de panache pour ceux qui ne sont pas allergiques aux boucles en tous genres. On se demande même parfois si la seule électronique n’aurait pas été suffisante. J’aime bien les guitares, mais si l’électronique avait été poussée un peu plus dans ses derniers retranchements, je pense que le tout y aurait gagné.
SITH nous gratifie quand même d’un premier album contenant quinze titres, plus un bonus pas dégueu (ce n’est pas un simple fond de tiroir ressorti histoire de). Le tout semble avoir été enregistré volontairement vite et sans fioritures. Pourquoi pas. Après, quand les machines sont bien programmées comme il faut, c’est sûr que le rendu est tout de même intéressant, même si on enregistre vite. Du coup, cette rapidité, ou cette urgence, ne se ressent pas le moins du monde et on a une production de bonne qualité, loin du truc crade que l’on aurait pu croire en lisant de telles paroles. J’avoue que je suis bien rentré dans le disque dés les premiers morceaux (« Sin », le grand « The Night Of Fallen Angels »). Cependant, j’ai par la suite un peu décroché, pour finalement revenir dedans sur la fin (« Breath »). Du coup, les quinze morceaux que l’on pourrait recevoir comme du pain béni et se dire que le groupe ne se fout pas de nous semblent un peu de trop. Quelques titres en moins en essayant de varier un peu plus aurait sans doute été préférable. Je suis volontairement sec parce que le groupe possède un potentiel monstrueux qu’il lui faut encore travailler un rien, en sachant peut-être se retenir par moment. Malgré cette impression en demi ton, SITH est groupe de la scène française qu’il va falloir suivre de très près. C’est riche, intelligent, avec de bonnes idées. Reste plus qu’à passer le cap de ce premier disque pour reprendre les choses en main.
