STILLE VOLK n’est pas le nouveau groupe allemand censé remplacer les TOKYO HOTEL. Il n’est ni nouveau ni allemand. C’est un groupe français qui officie depuis de nombreuses années et qui distille ses émotions à grand coup d’instruments médiévaux sortis tout droit d’un petit antre des antiquités. Mais, une fois la poussière enlevée, c’est pour notre plus grand plaisir que Patrick Lafforgue et Patrice Roques endossent leur habit de troubadour pour apporter sur un plateau d’argent leur musique médiévale.
Aujourd’hui, ils reviennent, après quelques années d’absence, avec Nueit De Sabbat. C’est une véritable plongée dans l’univers magique du groupe que l’on va accomplir. Les nombreux instruments à vent et à cordes qui s’invitent ici sont tous là dans le même but : faire voyager les auditeurs dans un monde qu’ils croient connaître mais qu’ils n’ont fait qu’effleurer. Avec une composition résolument métallique, c’est pourtant un album totalement acoustique que l’on découvre. Les mélodies sont accrocheuses, le chant et les ambiances m’ont fait penser à du ANGE ou bien encore à du MISANTHROPE, tout en portant la patte STILLE VOLK. C’est assez délicat d’isoler des morceaux de cet album puisqu’ils sont tous bons et possèdent tous leur charme propre. On pourra cependant noter « Mascaria », l’intrumentale, « La Danse De La Corde » qui ouvre très justement le bal avec son rythme dansant ou encore le plus mélancolique et oriental « Nueit De Sabbat ». Le chant qui oscille entre français et occitan est lui aussi un atout majeur de ce disque. On est loin d’envolée lyrique que l’on peut trouver dans des groupes de Folk Metal à chanteuse, on n’est pas non plus dans une ambiance de taverne poisseuse. Mais on se sent comme on coin du feu, quand le vieillard sage et aguerri se met à raconter les histoires aux plus jeunes. Pour passer le temps, certes, mais aussi pour délivrer sans trop le montrer son savoir acquis au fil des âges.
Envoûtant est un mot qui ne peut qu’accompagner ce Nueit de Sabbat. Laissez-vous tenter par les charmes des titres et partez pour un voyage dans le temps.
Il est fort à parier qu’un des meilleurs albums de Folk Metal de cette année ne possèdera pas la moindre trace de guitare distordue.
