ELKTRONIK SCIETY voit le jour en 2003 sous l’impulsion de Massaker, alors guitariste. Il veut construire un groupe de Metal Industriel et recrute quatre comparses pour dispenser la bonne parole. S’en suit Archetypal Influence, une démo. Cependant, Massaker n’aime pas ce que le groupe a produit et arrête l’aventure. Après quelques années, il reprend tout de même son intention première et recrute Hrod à la guitare, Crypp à la basse et War à la batterie. Ce dernier enregistrera la démo Industrial Cadaverous Demos mais ne fait plus partie du groupe à l’heure où j’écris ces lignes. Il est remplacé par Cyr. Massaker, quant à lui, garde la guitare solo et le chant, mégaphoné au possible.
Avec un visuel crasseux et terrifiant, le groupe ne fait rien pour passer inaperçu. Et Industrial Cadaverous Demos est conçu de la même manière : une galette d’efficacité pour démarcher. Le groupe attaque par une intro exclusivement composée de boucles. Déjà, on sent une froideur toute industrielle nous gagner. Et « Brain Factory » ne va pas faire démentir cette première impression. C’est à la fois glacial comme la lame d’un boucher et rentre dedans comme la chaine d’une tronçonneuse. C’est d’ailleurs elle qui est mis à l’honneur avec « Chainsaw » (d’un autre côté, même sans moi, vous auriez deviné tous seuls). J’espère au moins que Massaker a conservé les morceaux de la ravissante demoiselle qu’il semble vouloir découper dans les pages de la pochette. C’est d’ailleurs amusant qu’un tel titre soit un des plus « dansant » (toute proportion gardée) puisque les boucles utilisées lorgnent vers de la techno survoltée. Il est rejoint en ce sens par « Insane », un autre morceau moins « grosse brute épaisse » qui utilise le contre coup du charley à bon escient. « Dictators » est un autre bon titre de la démo, captivant et puissant. Le tout se clôture par « Mass Of Torments » que n’auraient pas dénigré les enfants goulifiés de ROB ZOMBIE. On a même le droit à deux remix des titres déjà présents sur l’album. Une démo complète, en somme.
Les idées contenues dans ce Industrial Cadaverous Demos sont bonnes et efficaces. Malheureusement, le tout est un peu desservi par une production qui met en avant beaucoup les samples et boucles et laisse le reste de côté. C’est une autoproduction, donc il faut être indulgent, mais on a parfois du mal à distinguer les guitares ou la batterie. Cela s’arrangera dans le futur, j’en suis certain. Par contre, il est vrai que cela donne un côté mécanique, froid et sans vie qui colle bien avec l’image du groupe. Reste à trouver le juste milieu.
ELKTRONIK SCIETY a donc de bonnes cartes à jouer pour son prochain méfait. Espérons qu’elles leur soient profitables.
