Après un grandiose Xenosapien, que pouvait nous offrir de mieux les barjots de CEPHALIC CARNAGE ?
Il ne faut pas oublier que cette année marque le 10ième anniversaire de la sortie de leur premier OVNI de longue durée Conforming to Abnormality !
Ces drôles d’animaux ont effectué un choix qui, en lui même, est un tantinet à contre-courant de ce qui se fait aujourd’hui. Ils ressortent leur premier jet après une fermentation latexienne d’une décennie. Tel un bon vin cet album a pris de l’ampleur avec le temps, il est plus long en bouche et possède une teneur en tanin non négligeable. Ceci dit, il ne s’agit là que d’un travail de remixage et de remastering, et comme le nectar viticole les experts ne tarderont pas à le remarquer. En effet, tant en matière de musique que d’œnologie rien ne vaut une nouvelle cuvée qu’une chaptalisation.
J’avoue, le son est meilleur qu’en 1998, mais est-ce un exploit ?
Alors pour les fans il reste un fabuleux condensé de Brutal Death Technique, mais ces derniers le possèdent déjà !
Il reste tout de même « 21 (!) bonus track » comme dirait le promo. Et connaissant le groupe on doit bien trouver son bonheur là dedans. Les plages évoluent entre 03 ’50 pour la plus longue, et 08’’ pour la plus courte. Oui mais voilà, on nage le plus souvent dans les quelques secondes que dans de véritables morceaux à proprement parlé.
C’est plein d’humour et de jovialité, mais est-ce que pour autant cela mérite que l’on s’y intéresse ?
Je reste circonspect !
Ce groupe est l’un des plus grands innovateurs que la scène Death ait portée et il accouche d’une simple souris !
Un anniversaire et une énorme faute de goût à très vite oublier.
Ce groupe hors du commun mérite mieux que les quelques blagues nauséeuses que comportent les dernières pistes, mais leurs fans aussi. Et visiblement ils ont été les oubliés de l’affaire !
