Avril 2007, PYRAMAZE frappe un grand coup sur la scène internationale !
En effet, après avoir annoncé l’éviction de son chanteur Lance KING en décembre 2006 une nouvelle tombe chez tous les journalistes de la planète Metal, son remplaçant n’est autre que Matthew BARLOW ex-chanteur de ICED EARTH et actuel « Flic » de sa commune.
Légitimement on peut se poser des questions sur le pourquoi et le comment.
Sur le comment nous avons des éléments de réponse donnés par le guitariste et mentor du groupe (Michaël KAMMEYER) lui même. C’est après d’âpres recherches sur la Toile que ce dernier a réussi à situer le commissariat dans lequel servait notre ami Matt. Et il est rentré en contact avec lui le plus simplement du monde en demandant à parler à l’agent BARLOW !
Comme quoi, quand on veut…
Reste désormais à définir le pourquoi. Un coup médiatique, un gros GROS chèque, de la sorcellerie, ….autre chose ?
Car mine de crayon, pas simple de passer après un chanteur à voix tel que le père KING. Et puis après des mois végétatifs, d’un point de vue strictement musical, comment les cordes vocales du bonhomme allaient-elles réagir ?
Inutile de vous faire languir, toutes les réponses sont à l’intérieur de la magnifique pochette d’Immortal !
Le groupe a tout vu en grand, intro, outro et au milieu 7 perles d’une pureté transcendantale (ne vous inquiétez pas je sais toujours compter). Car après avoir posé les jalons en un peu plus d’une minute, les six musiciens nous balancent un premier morceau dont le tempo marteleur n’aurait pas été renié par un certain HELLOWEEN des premiers émois. La production est profonde et rend hommage à tous les intervenants, même si j’avoue qu’une batterie plus acoustique aurait mieux caresser encore mes hélix. L’ambiance est d’une magnificence rarement égalée et le ton monte de plus en plus jusqu’à 03’45 de Ghost Light et la première intervention quasi à capela de BARLOW. L’orgie vocale est donc toujours présente !
De là rien ne sera plus pareille. On alterne du Dark Ambiant au Symphonique le plus pure, les tempi ne sont pas en reste et passent du posé à l’accélération trans-sidérale. Écoutez-moi le refrain de Touched by the Mara et ce travail sur les voix incroyables. Frissons garantis !
Dans ce tableau idyllique reste un truc, un machin qui n’a pas sa place ici. Je parle de la 8ième piste et du mal nommé « The Highland ». C’est mielleux à souhait, gentil dans le mauvais sens du terme. En gros un morceau de guimauve en barre qui pourrait passer sur les ondes de Radio Liebig. Tout le monde peut faire une erreur !
Reste que le dernier morceau ainsi que l’outro remonte dans les hautes sphères de l’orgasme.
Quel dommage que nous n’ayons jamais la chance de voir cette formation sur scène, car le Prince du Micro a décidé de s’en retourner dans ICED EARTH. Et c’est un bien beau challenge pour Jon SCHAFFER, car les Danois on placé la barre si haut dans l’Eden du Metal, qu’ils seront difficilement détrônables !
