Le label Dirty8 serait il donc un gage de qualité ? Le garant d’une certaine caution Core en France ? Je commence à le croire tant ses sorties sont impressionnantes et l’écoute de ce second album de S-CORE m’a rappelé au bon souvenir de SIKH il y a quelques temps.
Du Metalcore certes, mais du fameux, inspiré, dur et incisif, qui n’a plus rien à envier aux ténors US du genre, et qui pourrait bien leur donner quelques leçons à l’occasion.
Comme pour leurs collègues, S-CORE bénéficie d’un son à faire sauter les bretelles de soutif de Halle BERRY, et d’une puissance à torpiller le string blindé de Anne-Sophie LAPIX. Le chant extrêmement vindicatif le dispute aux riffs épais comme un vieux glaviot, et la rythmique n’est pas en reste et ferait presque passer le hurlement d’une armée de Panzer pour le chant délicat d’un rossignol au printemps.
Avec quelques pointes de vitesse, à l’occasion de « Me And The World », ou de subtilités acoustiques sur l’excellent instrumental arabisant « …A Whole Life… », prélude de l’intro de « Buried », montée de tension avant le cri guttural libérateur, prélude d’un chant schizophrénique et habité. Sans aucun doute, le hit de cet album avec son chant clair inquiétant doublé de grognements effrayants.
Les influences sont bien sur légion, et le gras qui tue de CROWBAR s’impose, comme le tord-boyaux PANTERA douze ans d’age. Un BIOHAZARD teigneux pourrait aussi être invoqué, voire un DOWN particulièrement défoncé au sabbat noir sur le titre « …To Become A Man… », captivant de lourdeur et presque étouffant.
Quelques dissonances et contretemps bienvenus fournis sur « In Memoriam » achèvent de transformer Gust Of Rage en produit de haute compétition ce que parachèvent « Worst Of All » et sa rage non contenue toute de Hard-Core ténue, et « Pangenesis » et sa progression dans l’agression distillée et digérée. Une composition intelligente aux arrangements travaillés qui sont autant d’arguments de poids au moment de décerner le grand prix du jury.
Je ne peux qu’espérer tomber un jour dans ma belle région ensoleillée sur la Dirty8 Crew en plein effort, car après les avoir écoutés, mes yeux ne demandent qu’à les voir !
