Des Démos qui sonnent comme des albums, ça devient monnaie courante aujourd’hui. Avec en sus, un packaging pro, rien de surprenant. Alors il ne reste dans ce cas qu’à juger le contenu, ce qui est à la base notre tâche.
C’est l’histoire du chien qui se mord la queue. Le groupe influencé par le groupe influencé par le groupe qui a influencé tout le monde.
En écoutant Gehenna’s Sword, pas de doute possible, on a l’impression de se retrouver au début des 90’s, et de se farcir Covenant de MORBID ANGEL. Juste un petit souci, l’inspiration le confine presque au plagiat, et manque cruellement du génie des Floridiens.
La voix de Vincent est quasiment similaire à celle de David VINCENT, et le batteur à une nette tendance à se prendre pour Pete SANDOVAL, avec beaucoup moins de flair.
Jetez une oreille sur l’intro de « The Serpent’s Wheel », et si vous n’y trouvez pas des relents de Blessed Are The Sick, courrez vous acheter un sonotone de luxe.
Mais le pire, c’est que si vous allez plus loin dans le titre, l’impression se confirme encore plus ! Même type de riff, mêmes vocaux écorchés, même rythme cassé, c’est affolant.
Je suis conscient que l’Ange Morbide a été, est et sera une influence majeure pour bon nombre de groupes, mais il y a un fossé énorme entre révérence et vol qualifié.
Le pire, c’est que la copie est bonne, ce qui prouve que les musiciens sont tout a fait compétents, quant au son, il arrache honnêtement, et reste clair et compréhensible. D’aucun appelleraient ça du gâchis, moi du temps perdu.
Tiens, je préfère encore aller écouter du Julien DORE, parce que même si il fait de la merde en branche, au moins, c’est la sienne !
