FATAL AGONY est un nom de groupe qu’il faudra retenir. En effet, ses membres n’ont que dix sept ans de moyenne d’âge et ils ne peuvent que progresser encore. Aujourd’hui, ils produisent une démo de bonne facture, preuve aussi qu’ils se donnent les moyens de leurs ambitions malgré leur jeune âge. Cela donne déjà l’esprit dans lequel ils jouent leur musique. Présentation soignée, production propre quoiqu’encore perfectible et bonne prestation musicale, telle est l’impression générale de l’écoute de ce quatre titres.
Tout commence par une introduction, « Way Station » où le vent s’engouffre dans les oreilles et où les musiciens entrent progressivement. Bon, personnellement, cette introduction ne m’a pas du tout touchée. Je l’ai trouvée un peu trop plate pour être intéressante. Elle aurait dû durer certainement encore un peu pour laisser le temps aux riffs de prendre de l’ampleur. Mais là, ça tombe à l’eau.
Les trois autres morceaux sont construits sur le même modèle, c'est-à-dire du Brutal Death dégoulinant bourrés de riffs bien sentis et souvent imprévisibles. Le tout joué avec ferveur par les membres du groupe. Les compositions sont bonnes, travaillées et recherchées. Il leur manque juste, à mon sens, une interprétation à la hauteur pour que cette démo soit vraiment très bonne. En effet, on a parfois l’impression que les musiciens sont décalés les uns par rapport aux autres. Au début, j’ai penché pour la batterie mais je me suis rendu compte que mon impression venait surtout des deux guitares qui ne sont pas forcément pile poil ensemble. Ce qui est parfois dérangeant. Encore une fois, je pense que le groupe a le temps de progresser pour corriger cela et si on lui donne deux ans, il reviendra et dévastera tout sur son passage.
Il est à noter aussi la voix qui mériterait un peu de variations. En effet, à la fin de la démo, on se croirait devant un étalage Fleury Michon tellement la prestation porcine de Tom est soutenue.
Quoi qu’il en soit, je recommande de jeter une oreille sur cette démo, ne serait-ce que pour guetter les progrès que le groupe ne peut que faire dans le futur.
