Troisième album pour l’acolyte de Joey JORDISON au sein des MURDERDOLLS, Wednesday nous invite une fois de plus dans son monde pulp, où règnent les monstres, zombis, et autres poupées de vinyles sexy.
Bien évidemment, on ne change pas une recette qui marche, et le Shock-Rock de WEDNESDAY 13 est toujours aussi festif et contagieux.
Les influences restent les mêmes, comics cheap, drugs et horror flicks. Un pur rejeton des films d’horreur qui terrorisaient notre enfance, et nous faisaient regarder sous le lit et dans le placard à deux fois.
Musicalement, pas de révolution non plus, c’est toujours très teenage, avec des hymnes imparables, tels que « No Rabbit In The Hat », « Scream Baby Scream », ou autres « Gimme Gimme Bloodshed ». On garde une part pour le Heavy quand même, et des titres comme « Dead Carolina » et sa rythmique plombée, ou encore « Put Your Dead Mask On » et sa ligne de guitare sombre comme un caveau une nuit d’hiver, sont là pour faire sentir que même si on est d’accord pour s’amuser, on est pas là pour rigoler non plus !
La prod est à l’image de l’album, un peu crade, puissante, et toutes les guitares à fond.
Pour les non initiés, WEDNESDAY 13, c’est WHITE ZOMBIE versus MÖTLEY CRÜE, THE MISFITS en cavale avec IGGY POP, le tout mis en musique par les RAMONES après une cure de champignons, sur une mise en scène d’ALICE COOPER défoncé à l’éther.
Du vrai Glam’n’Rock estampillé US, avec des riffs à faire pâlir Vincent PRICE, et un chant râpeux qui doit autant au sieur FURNIER qu’à Vince NEIL.
L’avantage avec ce genre d’album, c’est qu’on sait qu’on va prendre son pied sans se prendre la tête, un peu comme ces films qui passent sur Ciné FX en pleine nuit. C’est prévisible, inévitable, mais on ne peut s’empêcher de les regarder.
C’est ça l’essence du Rock’n’Roll après tout.
