Un dimanche matin, avec ma pu****, sur ma mobylette….Vous connaissez tous cette petite comptine que l’on fredonnait dans le bus en partant en colo, à la piscine, ou tout simplement à l’école. Elle nous mettait le cœur en joie, en tout cas, plus que l’infâme sandwich au salami préparé amoureusement, mais à toute vitesse par votre mère. Mais si, ne faites pas l’innocent, vous aussi avez eu droit à cet infect mélange improbable entre deux tranches de pain de mie bon marché, et une rondelle mi pourpre, mi blanche, sans mayonnaise bien sur.
GOODBYE DIANA, c’est un peu ça.
Un dimanche qui s’annonce morne, peuplé de nourriture approximative, sous un soleil faiblard, et une motivation défaillante. Sauf que Odds & Ends, ça n’est pas le sandwich, c’est la chansonnette.
Mais c’est tout sauf une mélodie populaire qu’on siffle à la volée pour imiter les copains. C’est une thérapie pour oublier le morne après-midi qui s’annonçait insupportable.
Quand on affronte un bloc pareil, constitué d’un mélange parfait entre une créativité étonnante et une puissance de tous les instants, on reprend confiance.
Alors, attention. Que les néophytes avides de gueulantes de bon aloi s’éloignent. Que les boulimiques du riff poilu partent en courant. L’album est instrumental, et les riffs sont décousus, mais compacts.
Non, la bio, même si elle parle de Post Mathcore, est loin de la vérité. Certes, ça n’est pas entièrement faux, mais c’est loin d’être vrai.
34 minutes de creuset sonore, avec une bonne idée à la seconde, et une force de frappe diluée dans des mélodies distordues pour stimuler les neurones.
Pas de hit single, on n’est pas là pour ça, et ça évite la vulgarité de réduire le reste à une portion congrue. Il y a du Metal, c’est certain, du Rock, c’est plié. Du Hard-Core parfois, c’est entendu, et même au détour d’une note, une légère teinte d’Emo-Pop.
Et on s’avale ça d’un trait, parce que c’est entraînant, ça donne envie de bouger, mais aussi de rester sur place pour en apprécier les moindres méandres. C’est louvoyant, mais direct. C’est honnête, mais roublard. Les changements de rythme quasi compulsifs font tanguer le bateau du côté où il va couler. Mais les guitares sont là pour épauler le bastingage. La BO d’une journée bizarre. Et on se le remet sans fin, parce que justement un dimanche n’a pas de fin. Alors autant le passer avec GOODBYE DIANA.
S’il faut une Mercedes écrasée sur un pylône pour agrémenter mes fins de semaines en plaisirs sonores, j’ai une longue liste pour vous les gars.
