« The World Is Born Of Flame ». Premier titre du nouvel album de THREE. Première impression pas trop mauvaise, même si je ne m’attendais pas à ça. Des arpèges de guitare claire avec une voix plutôt douce, sur la première moitié de la chanson. Et puis on s’énerve un peu sur la fin, mais cela reste gentillet. Et puis il y a eu « The End Is Begun ». Là encore, c’est pas violent violent mais c’est plutôt sympa, avec un refrain dont on se souvient aisément et qui est plutôt bien inspiré. J’ai pas mal été surpris par le coup de la guitare acoustique qui se permet de suivre une guitare plus distordue sur des triolets assez Metal. Donc, même si je ne suis pas encore transcendé par le groupe, cela part pas trop mal.
Arrive alors « Battle Cry » puis « All That Remains ». Et là, c’est le drame. « All That Remains », cela m’a fait penser à du THE BEATLES qui essaierait de se dévergonder parce que le chanteur a un poil de cul qui pousse et que maintenant, il se sent plus homme. Et la suite est de plus en plus navrante et désastreuse. De la Pop toute molle qui essaye de faire des variations pour se donner un genre Progressif. Mais cela ne prend pas une seule seconde. N’est pas PINK FLOYD qui veut non plus.
La voix de Joey Eppard pourrait être belle et mélodieuse, mais elle devient vite irritante. Et on a envie de lui arracher son poil de cul, histoire d’obtenir au moins un petit hurlement quelque part. Et, au moins, ça dépasserait plus du caleçon !
C’est rare que j’ai autant envie qu’un album se termine (ça n’arrive que sur THE CURE et GUN’S AND ROSES généralement). Mais là, les 57 minutes furent d’une longueur terrifiante. Et, Ô bonheur, il y a même une chanson bonus.
The End Is Begun… si elle pouvait se terminer, cela serait pas mal aussi.
