Elvis n'est pas mort. Frank Zappa non plus si l'on en croit ce Karyotypexplosion : en effet, à l'écoute de XHOHX, on se dit que l'âme de Frank Zappa plane sur cet album, une âme non pas prise dans les vapeurs d'encens mais bien plus dans celles de substances illicites et profondément hallucinogènes. Au diable la démarche conventionnelle de combos tels FANTOMAS, MR. BUNGLE ou autre SLEEPYTIME GORILLA MUSEUM !? Une chose est sûre : Karyotypexplosion ne peut laisser indifférent. Il m'a d'ailleurs amené à me pencher sur la définition même du mot musique. La musique est ainsi l'art de combiner les sons. XHOHX fait donc incontestablement de la musique. Pour le reste... Supporter d'une traite ces 55 minutes nécessite au préalable que vous demandiez à l'un de vos proches, ou à une inconnue, si vous êtes adeptes de séances de SM, de vous fixer solidement à une chaise soit par le biais de chatterton, bas nylon, menottes ou tout autre ustensile à votre disposition... Ils ne sont que deux : Ramon Ribas Coca, à la guitare et aux programmations, et Oregolakatzor, au chant et à la basse ; le résultat est pourtant une véritable cacophonie dominée essentiellement par des éléments Jazz discordants. Aucune recherche d'harmonie ou de mélodie ici. Mais si l'auditeur fait l'effort - ou plutôt a l'imprudence - d'entrer dans cet univers, il sera comme aspiré dans un siphon improbable à taille humaine dont il ne pourra s'extraire, la surface l'entourant n'offrant aucune prise. Karyotypexplosion : déroutant, dérangeant, éprouvant... Voilà un véritable Objet Musical Non Identifié : autant dire que si c'était la musique de XHOHX qui figurait dans les sondes Voyager envoyées dans l'espace pour aller à la rencontre d'une civilisation extraterrestre, les petits hommes verts dans leur vaisseau auraient vite fait de faire demi-tour.
