ETHS (FRA) - Tératologie (2007)

Avec Soma, ETHS s’était fait remarquer par un public plus large que pour Autopsie et Samantha, ce qui n’avait pas été du goût des fans de la première heure qui avaient l’impression de se faire voler un groupe qu’ils affectionnaient par une bande d’adolescents aux boutons hypertrophiés et purulents. Pourtant, le fait était que ETHS avait produit un album riche et pas forcément si grand public (faut pas déconner tout de même !). Qu’en est-il de Tératologie ? Arrivera-t-il à réconcilier les deux pendants du public du groupe ?
Franchement, je n’en sais rien, et je m’en bats les couettes, pour rester poli. Par contre, ce que je peux dire, c’est que cet album semble une poursuite des plus logiques de la musique du groupe. De nouveaux univers à explorer du point de vue des paroles, où Candice s’en donne à cœur joie pour nous faire voir la saleté qui nous entoure. Une musique qui reste du ETHS, incontestablement, mais qui expérimente, ose devrais-je dire, plus qu’elle ne le faisait auparavant. Avec de nouvelles sonorités (bidons, électro…), la musique devient plus riche, grimpe encore d’un niveau. Et, un peu comme avec le boss de fin de niveau d’un bon jeu de baston des familles, il faudra certainement plusieurs essais pour passer ce niveau en même temps que la musique. Non pas qu’elle se perde dans une complexité énorme, mais justement parce qu’il faut du temps pour assimiler la richesse et les nouvelles petites touches qui parsèment cet opus par rapport au précédent.
Tératologie a été accouché dans la douleur d’un groupe qui perd une partie de lui-même. Mais c’est souvent dans les moments les plus sombres qu’on est le plus créatif. Et les membres du groupe nous en donne un avant goût dés les premières notes de « Bulimiarexia ». Et ce ETHS nouveau ne nous lâche pas une seconde avant les dernières notes de « Liquide éphémère ».
Est-ce alors lui qui va faire l’unanimité chez les fans ou bien est-ce une troisième vague qui va arriver à les soutenir ? Je n’en sais rien. Tout ce que je sais c’est que ce groupe a la fâcheuse manie de sortir de bons albums et que j’espère qu’ils ne la perdront pas.
