Nous vous y trompez pas : HEAVEN & HELL, c’est BLACK SABBATH. Pour de sombres raisons financières ainsi que des susceptibilités personnelles, il a fallu changer de nom. Quoi qu’il en soit le combo de l’ère Dio est au complet : Geezer Butler, Vinnie Appice, Tommy Iommi et, bien sûr, le père Dio.
Pas beaucoup de surprises dans l’interprétation de ces classiques ; on réalise simplement à quel point ce groupe à contribuer à donner au Metal actuel sa personnalité. Et l’on comprend également pourquoi ce groupe était ce qui existait de plus Heavy à l’époque. Car la puissance est bien là.
Il est bien difficile de dire du mal d’un album contenant autant d’hymnes du Heavy Metal. Et d’ailleurs il n’y a pas de mal à en dire, puisque c’est du plaisir à l’état pur ! Cela dit, les vieux briscards comme moi, qui s’étaient délectés du Live Evil, restent un peu sur leur faim. Il faut dire que surclasser ce live de légende n’était pas chose aisée. Mais Dio et sa bande on perdu un peu de leur fougue, de cette énergie malsaine qui faisait du Live Evil un pur joyau. On ne peut pas leur reprocher d’avoir vieilli et il est vrai qu’à force de chanter les mêmes chansons, la fougue s’émousse. Mais l’auditeur s’en rend compte.
Heureusement la playlist est assez différente et cela nous permet de découvrir de nouveaux titres live qui méritent le détour.
Ce live est de bonne qualité. Mais il s’adresse à un public de nostalgiques, forcément exigeants.
