Après quatre ans d'absence, ENTOMBED nous revient et celles et ceux qui attendaient ce retour avec impatience auront de quoi être des plus satisfaits avec ce Serpent Saints. ENTOMBED est à MOTÖRHEAD ce que le Ghostrider est au biker : on pénètre ici dans une autre dimension où l'odeur de soufre se mêle à celle du bitume. Et l'intro de « Serpent Saints », avec sa guitare acoustique et ses samples spectraux, nous y fait rentrer de plein pied. Le Death'n roll qui s'en suit est d'emblée de haute volée. Les types d'ENTOMBED ont compris, et c'est pourquoi personne n'oserait remettre aujourd'hui en cause leur statut de leader dans le genre, que le Death'n roll, ce n'était pas juste jouer du Rock crade avec des vocaux Death mais qu'il fallait aussi préserver ses racines Death et l'atmosphère qui va avec (« When In Sodom », « The Ten Commandments »). « Masters Of Death » et ses accents punkisants (écoutez aussi « Warfare Plague Famine Death ») est d'une efficacité redoutable : on s'imagine en train de pogoter dans la fosse à coups d'antivols, mais dans un esprit bon enfant. Les vocaux de Petrov prennent alors des accents Black : infernal, je vous dis. Passage ensuite, avec ces « Eh... Oh... », à des moments plus propices au jump pour ceux qui sont encore debouts car ça a beau rester bon enfant, les chaînes, ça laisse quand même des traces. « Masters Of Death » : un titre décidément bien trouvé. Les dix compos de ce nouvel opus (qui se termine en plus par un titre qui s'appelle « The Ten Commandments » : trop forts ces Suédois) sont décidément de belle facture et même ceux qui sont réticents au Death ne pourront résister à ce groove maléfique. Après plusieurs retours aux sources annoncés, mais manqués, cette fois-ci pourrait bien être la bonne. Serpent Saints : meilleur album d'ENTOMBED depuis Wolverine Blues ? Peut-être bien...
