La machine à hits made in Switzerland est de retour ! Il est bien loin le passage à vide que le groupe a traversé il y a quelques années ; et puisque GOTTHARD renoue avec ce qu’il sait faire de mieux, tout est pardonné. Les Suisses nous offrent le meilleur d’eux-mêmes : des mélodies à tomber à la renverse, des refrains imparables, une production époustouflante, bref le menu dégustation.
La quantité de hits potentiels est tout bonnement impressionnante et frappe dans tous les registres : le Hard Rock avec « Bad To The Bone », « Master Of Illusion », « Heal Me », « Now » et « The Cruiser », le Hard FM avec « Come Alive » et « The Oscar Goes To You », les ballades « Falling », « Letter To A Frend » et « The Call ». Sans oublier la bombe atomique « Gone Too Far », véritable chef-d’œuvre du genre.
Dès lors que l’on commence à citer en exemple presque tous les morceaux d’un album, c’est que l’album en question est sacrément bon. C’est le cas ici.
Domino Effect est le digne successeur de Lipservice puisqu’on retrouve cette densité de hits propice à combler les amateurs de Hard Rock mélodique. Toutefois on peut noter une petite nuance plus sombre sur ce dernier opus. Alors que Lipservice nous racolait avec les néons de sa pochette puis tenait ses promesses avec une bonne humeur exemplaire, ici le ton est moins léger. Steve Lee semble plus grave et l’ambiance générale moins festive. D’ailleurs les paroles sont, elles aussi, moins frivoles.
Avec Domino Effect, GOTTHARD donne une nouvelle leçon de Hard Rock mélodique.
