Bonne nouvelle pour les amateurs de metal symphonique, NIGHTWISH n’a pas splitté ! Après les moult heurts entre Tarja et le reste du groupe, ils ont juste décidé de changer de nom, pour le décidemment plus exotique VISIONS OF ATLANTIS. Se sont ils inspirés d’AGENT STEEL et de son atlantis Metal ??? En tout cas, leur musique n’a pas bougé d’un iota, toujours ce background très Metal traditionnel sur nappes de claviers, et la voix de Tarja en avant, aidée de son fidèle guitariste pour le contrepoids masculin. Peut être un peu plus groove qu’avant, moins emphatique, un chouia moins lyrique, mis à part dans les envolées vocales, la véritable trademark du groupe.
Des titres comme « Passing Dead End » sont de véritables défis à l’embargo des stations de radio, tout comme « Nothing Left », « Wing-Shaped Heart » et leur mélange de rythmes mid tempo, d’harmonies vocales subtiles, et de riffs velus comme les implants de PPDA !
« Return To You » et « The Poem », les ballades incontournables nous offre un moment de douceur non négligeable, s’éloignant avec bonheur de la surdose de glucose, pour nous proposer un velouté fondant dans le palais, qualité+popularité, l’équation impossible pourtant résolue !
Tout au plus pourrons nous reprocher à ce CD son uniformité globale dans le fond comme dans la forme, mais les musiciens ne visant pas à déclencher une révolution culturelle ou musicale, l’honneur est sauf !
Le son, comme d’habitude est magnifique, puissant, clair, où l’on distingue aisément toutes les composantes, sans trop mettre en avant untel ou untel, pour ne froisser aucune susceptibilité, comme pour satisfaire l’auditeur.
Non décidemment, NIGHTWISH à bien fait de mettre les pendules à l’heure, il y avait bien longtemps qu’un de leurs albums de n’avait autant enthousiasmé. Peut être manquait il à Tarja un peu d’humilité, pour permettre à ses compagnons de route une plus grande latitude de création, et ainsi ramener l’harmonie dans les chaumières.

Lui : M’en fous de ta téloche ! J’ai qu’un minitel ! Mais VISIONS OF ATLANTIS, c’est pas NIGHTWISH !!
Moi : Ouais, prends moi pour un âne, même voix, même musique, même son, c’est qui alors, Lita FORD ?? Je vérifie mes sources moi !
Lui : Mais non, c’est un groupe Autrichien, rien à voir avec Tarja !!! Relis la bio nom de Dieu !!
Moi : Aurais-je commis un impair ??
Lui : Un peu mon neveu, c’est leur troisième album, après Cast Away et Eternal Endless Infinity !!!
Moi : Autant pour moi, je déplore ma méprise, mais la chronique est toujours valable, leur musique me sied !!
Lui : Ouais ben fais gaffe la prochaine fois, ou j’te refile les chroniques de true metal vénézuélien !
Moralité : VISIONS OF ATLANTIS, c’est comme NIGHTWISH, en plus léger et moins pompeux.
