BISS ? Késaco ? Jamais entendu parler ! Fichtre, quelle lacune car les Allemands signent là leur quatrième méfait…
Jetons un œil sur le line up. Même constat : ces quadragénaires fringants sont inconnus au bataillon si ce n’est Marc Storace, la voix de KROKUS depuis plus de trente ans qui remplace à ce poste Fernando Garcia (ex VICTORY) et Michael BORMANN.
Eh bien écoutons donc ce « X-position » plutôt que de disserter dans le vide.
Contrairement à ce que la voix bien typée AC/DC du chanteur nous laissait augurer, le combo prodigue un Heavy rock bien amené, qui sonne toutes proportions gardées, comme le grand DOKKEN des années 80. A savoir un Metal racé, puissant, énergique mais ou la mélodie prédomine toujours même pendant les passages les plus intenses.
Storace s’en tire plutôt bien. Il s’est distingué pendant des décennies comme un très bon clone de feu Bon Scott mais sur ce « X-Position » il nous montre une facette relativement inattendue de ses facettes vocales. Bien sur, nous distinguons des passages « éraillés » mais le Suisse réalise là une performance de haute volée. Son comparse Ralph Hegne n’est pas en reste. Sa guitare survole littéralement les débats par des rythmiques foncièrement Metal et souvent inventives et inspirées.
Rien de bien nouveau donc mais un ensemble soigné au son clinquant. Seul bémol, quelques facilités dans l’exécution de certains refrains. Celui de « Run for your life » doit être scandé au moins 20 fois dans le morceau.
Sinon nous déplorerons des titres de chansons largement usités par d’autres combos. « Run for your life » donc, « Shout it out », « Barracuda » et j’en passe. Une panne d’inspiration messieurs ?
Nonobstant ce point de détail, les fans de Metal US se délecteront de ce X-tension, les autres passeront leur chemin.
