A coup sur, lorsque vous parlez de DYING FETUS à un parfait inconnu, la réplique fuse instantanément. "C'est quoi ce nom degueu !". C'est vrai que le jour du baptême, ils n'y sont pas allés avec le dos de la cuillère ! C'est le curé qui a du faire la gueule quand le rejeton lui a balancé une purée de céleri à peine digérée dans la gueule.
Leur musique, c'est un peu pareil en fait. Le ramage s'accorde au plumage. Genre rapace nécrophage qui charge le premier cadavre venu. Une hyène puante de l'au-delà qui réclame ses sablés Poult.
Résumons s'il vous plait. Killing On Adrenaline, c'était pas pour les chiens. Stop At Nothing non plus. Un mixer, du vieux meuil, citron, viandox et gnôle de grand père. Ben War Of Attrition, c'est pareil.
J'ai toujours plus ou moins vu DYING FETUS comme le rejeton bâtard de CARCASS et MACABRE, première époque (quoique je n'ai jamais été bien sur qu'il y ait eu une deuxième époque pour MACABRE !). C'est gras, gros, grand, et graveleux. Le petit dernier n'échappe pas à la règle. Le son de batterie est un non sens, les petites pirouettes harmoniques à la guitare sont les mêmes du début à la fin, et on a la sale impression d'entendre le même titre pendant 36 minutes. Mais on s'en fout ! C'est jouissif, parce que méchant et gratuit. Les membres du groupe n'ont jamais caché leur haine à toute appartenance mainstream, et on est d'accord avec eux. Et vous vous attendriez à des surprises ? Ben désolé, mais les FETUS restent honnêtes, fidèles à la ligne de conduite qui les guide depuis le départ, alors War Of Attrition, c'est du gros Death mâtiné de Grind, comme d'hab. La prod, en dehors de la batterie est excellente (vive Lars ULRICH !!), John Gallagher grogne comme jamais, et le groove est là. Je pourrais recommander dans un excès de zèle des titres comme "Unadulterated Hatred", pour sa lourdeur rythmique, "Ancient Rivalry" pour son petit coté MORBID ANGEL, ou encore "Raping The System" pour sa furie en forme de profession de foi. Car c'est bien de foi dont il s'agit. Inébranlable, comme un gros riff qui torture tes vieilles enceintes prêtes à rendre l'âme. Et c'est bien la seule que tu auras d'ailleurs. Celle de DYING FETUS est déjà réservée par le grand cornu depuis longtemps...
